The New and Improved Curotto Can, Recycling Route

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We recently demo'ed a Currotto can and I've gt to say, I liked it a lot! I've included outside footage, extended POV in-cab footage (so that you can see how the can handles a lot of different scenarios with this loose material. I heard containment on the old version of the Currotto was pretty bad), and unloading footage. I hope you enjoy!

    I’m working on a report to submit to my city council. We need some changes made to our waste collection and this is the set up I am recommending Heil Low Rider with Currotto Can. I think we would need 3 or 4 of them 32 yard trucks.

    The 28 yard body is plenty enough for just about any application. We run almost nothing but those in residential. If you run the packer twice per dumped bucket and try to fit in three once it's packing I haul about 12-13 tons on a fully packed load.( until the packer won't go past the clean out door) I've had some 15 ton or more loads but it's a lot of work and sitting still running the packer until it gets a full hopper again...but like I said, it's totally enough body for any application.

    @@sidwellsk8er We have a city about 7,000 single family houses and somewhere between 14000-16000 residents. The city used to own 7 rear loaders and 3 segregated body recycling trucks and ran garbage about 5 days a week. We have a contractor who does it now and they try to do the entire city in one day. Sometimes they fail at it and the contractor really isn't any cheaper and they really don't do a good job so that's kind of where were at.

    When the city did it them selves it was no holds barred unlimited service. When the contractor came in the service became very limited to limited. Now they want less limits on service. The City owned 3 Loadmaster 400s probably 31yard and 3 Leach 2Rs that were 25 yard. 70 tons of solid waste capacity. The landfill is probably 25-30 miles away. So not great dumping capacity.

    This by far was the best recycling video with a Currotto can I've ever watched. The filming was excellent with the help of the camera filming the dumping of the bins. One question I have being a viewer instead of a trash truck guru... what is a "half pack"? If I don't ask I won't know the answer.

  • @medicalgarbage3575

    @medicalgarbage3575

    4 жыл бұрын

    Haha you bet! I think they call it a half pack because the packer blade only goes ~ half way back in the body when it's packing. This helps extend the life of the tail gate bolts and seals I think, since you're not pressing as hard on them. It's also called a low rider because the truck height was lowered vs traditional front loader trucks

  • @texasgarbagetrucks6206

    @texasgarbagetrucks6206

    It's called half pack because the bottom of the blade packs and the top acts as a barrier for spilling over.

If you don‘t trust Medical Garbage and me, jump on CRT to the Heil album and read the articles found there about the Heil half pack.

    @@staintedcards he didn't say it only held four tons, he said this place is usually four tons. Most I've put recycling on one of these is around 7 tons but on average it's closer to 6. Once it's full it just keeps rolling the load and it keeps falling back into the hopper so depending on the density of the product the weight varies. If I ran an area with a lot of cardboard the load would be lighter in weight because it takes up more room and doesn't compact well.

    Cul de sacs are the best thing about a Curotto can. If you hit the cul de sac right and trace the curb with the corner of the can you can pick up every cart as you go. Unless there's a car in it or they put the carts way out from the curb.

    Matt Trains well depends on how the truck is built not all front loaders garbage trucks are like this like bay disposal 239 in Virginia Beach that truck is designed for currotto can but unfortunately the neighborhoods down here are way too small way too many trees in the way so the truck is being used for commercial trash/ recycling routes dumpsters but one way you can tell if it’s a currotto can truck is that if you notice the truck has two steering wheel and joystick and controls that’s the way I’ve always look at it.

    I will also add, you can retrofit trucks to fit a Currotto. So like a McNeilus Meridian can be made to work with a Currotto. We're doing that with one of our trucks and it'll be a solely left hand drive, operating the currotto from the left (will take some getting used to)

    Believe me I've ran plenty of both of them and they are a lot faster. All of their negatives still don't add up to them being slower in any way. Overhead clearance and windy days are there biggest problems but you can overcome the clearance problems most of the time and if it's windy out you dump the can more often to contain the product better.
