I love this guy. Every city needs a hobby store operated by an owner like Andy. I would gladly pay MRSP from him everyday. Keep up the positive vibes!

I thought they were going to be another AK shameless cash in but they actually look pretty good. Very useful if your OH complains about the smell of enamels or you just want to doodle on some armour whilst sat on the sofa watching TV.
Thank you for starting with just a solid color tank. It really helps people like me , who don’t have airbrushes, see how the pencils can really enhance a build. A lot of other videos use a model with 5 layers that already is better than I could ever do, and don’t really even needs the pencil work.
This is the best video I've seen so far on using the weathering pencils. Thanks.
Thanks for all the wonderful educational and review videos you make! It takes a lot of work to make good videos. Setting up, making sure everything is right and editing
I've worked out the best way to use these over the week and only used them to weather a build! It was a test subject but it's come out stunning so life like! The blending and washes you can also do with these is amazing! I sharpen the tips just lay them down and use my brushes with a bit of water on the brush it'll end up creating a groove in the pencil with the brush but that's the way you want to use them! They have now replaced my oils there even better than oils! Big claim but true!
My three favorite words. “Let’s get started”. Thanks again Andy
Just seen your video on these pencils and I must say that I love them so I will definitely get them thanks for the video Andy very useful Steve 🇬🇧
Very cool. Will be on the lookout for these. Thanks for the review.
Looking forward to try them, thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Love these products;) can't wait to try them myself!!
Andy, looks like you have an amazing shop!
Enjoyable as always andy thank you for sharing
I've pre ordered the complete set...looks great...👍
Merci pour ce petit tuto sur les crayons AK très instructif.
The plastic model industry is also evolving every day. As a former beginner, there is something thought up. Ps . Sakura is in full bloom in northern northern Kanto where I live. From Japan.
These I want! I sometimes use Prisma pencils, these would be a good option
Thanks Andy
Great video Andy, and thank you . Well I'm just not sold on these at all, in my experience acrylic washes take so much time to build up to an acceptable depth, and as the previous poster says pencils are a lot cheaper. Oil washes using the dot method are to my mind an easier option. Suppose things change and manufacturers need to come up with new ways to get us to part with or money, but this time not for me .
Might try these on my hasbro millennium falcon build
These look great Especially for us “mediocre” weathering modelers
Nice review Andy 👍 Good sets and lots of useful colors but not a product I would use often. However, when I do, I will use pencils from the art store - less expensive, great variety of colors.
Ive been using Tamiya weathering kits for a couple years. I think Ill give these a try.
been using pencils and shading stomps from tamiya and man....the effects!
Thanks a lot for the review and demo, I see they are only water pencils. Good idea, I have a kit o them for the kids, I will try in my M18 hellcat 👍
THESE WORK GREAT ON SMALL MODELS AND MINIATURES
Great review Andy, definetly gonna give some of these a go...🖍👍
Nice review Andy!!
I like how they're water based. Anything that cleans up with water is a big plus!

Men, these pencils are just watercolor pencils, they have been for eons on art stores at a fraction of the price...
Im going to get the ruste set i look forward to trying then out on my new panther tank
That MUD book worthwhile. The pencils are a very good idea. 😁🤪
These sound the same as what you can get in the art store to me. Water color or ink pencils at the art store work great as well. Like Derwent Inktense pencils. I have been using them and similar pencils for years. And they are much cheaper. Good video. Thanks for sharing...

I was gonna say the same thing. AK seem to bring out 'new' paint systems regularly, when theyve been available in art shops for years. I get these type of pencils and high quality chalks from my local art shop and theyre superb. In fact all my oils, varnishes and mediums are from my local art shop. The only thing they dont sell is Tamiya and vallejo paint. So those I have to source else where. Not that Im being disrespectful to AK or to Andy (I love his videos) Plus I hate buying online. I like my local hobby shops and they need supporting, providing they sell quality products of course.

Our art store does have Vallejo paint. It just floors me that they have so much that I have always got online. You are so correct Jay and also it's cheaper to buy some of this stuff at the old art store. Happy painting...

great review but can I ask a question. do you think they will be good for the smaller scale model, by having more control and been able to make a sharp point.
Very good review of the pencils. I was very skeptical about using them but after seeing your demonstration I feel a lot better wanting use them now. Thanks for the great videos.

They are just water color pencils. You can literally buy a box of 100 for $20 on amazon!
I got the Dirt set and Rust set. It's a lot of fun.
You are awesome!
How do they take an acrylic varnish on top?
Can I apply an acrylic varnish after using the pencils? Im worried about messing it all up since acrylic varnishes uses a water base
Can you touch them after they dried? Can you overspray them with a varnish or a colour?
Pretty standard watercolor aquarell pencils in a fancy packaging. Can buy Faber Castells set for the same effects. Been using the method for some time now, and it's pretty nifty :)

Watercolor pencils are usually hard though. These ones seems soft like oil pased pencils.
Pretty interesting.
They look nice. Btw, would you every try a Maschinen Krieger kit?
Do these pencils re-activate after dry or can you only activate them once? Thanks!
Would you recommend this for someone that builds gunpla/robot model kits?
I have the metallic set there no great and you will need a wee dish of water AKs video tutorial on them fornthe streaking effects is brilliant! He just wets the pencil and does a whole rusted barrel with oil streaks running down I copied his tutorial to see how to blend them and use them with water there pretty good! But really do nothing much without a dab of water! My artist pastels do exactly the same job same effect and way the work that's all they are but in pencil form!
OH NO? What shall i do? I ve broken my AK weathering Rod,i need some kind of tool to fix it? ....this may look like a sewing needle with the eye snapped in half, but dont be fooled, its a CA glue looper! Only $15.99.A 'Nien Be' pencil, for that instant,to scale, reflective metal look.Or 7B.
I like them a lot ... hope they are available in the uk ,great review as always Andy 👍

Its the same thing as "we don't need another Bf-109, why is Tamiya making one"? Because Tamiya isn't making money from Zvezda's Bf-109. AK knows that people use water color pencils, so they want to make a profit by private labeling them.

@@powertothebauer296 Just checking the prices in some online shops. In Germany for example it is 1 to 1.20 € per pencil. Seeing that similar pencils from the art shops are not so much cheaper I'm thinking about getting some AK pencils. Their color palette seems to fit well for modelling.
Might get them, definitely seems easier than using acrylics
Pretty intersting

use them to weather a new 1/16 tank build :)

@Giant Scorpion of the Apocalypse well i happen to meet a modeling shop owner on facebook and his store just ordered last week the first batch of pencils, so i think its safe to assume that those pencils came out so recently that shops still havnt got them
I will say this about AK. Their marketing division is good. Standard soft watercolour pencils, repacked and marketed towards modellers! 99.7% of everything that is used by modellers can be found at your local "good/high" quality art store. My club seems to navigate toward these things due to the fact that its all in one box and they don't have to hunt and research for what they need. Expensive. 3 for one pencil! WOW. I can get some good quality pencils for half that price! A tip for all of us. Take a trip to your local art store and experiment with what you can get. Some things are cheaper but sometimes you can get a good deal.
Are these the same as artists water colour pencils

Is this a joke? They are just common wetercolor pencils..
A great video, but like lots of others they have been hijacked by political fundraising ads. So, we'll give it a break for about 6 weeks. Don't care who or which side it's for. If I wanted to watch political ads, I would !!! The web is great that way.
