I think it might’ve been a good thing that they didn’t make it to the final. There was a possibility of them losing yet another final, and Germany also getting so close yet so far.

I somewhat understand you. All due respect to Brazil and Argentina, but Germany and the Netherlands looked like the two most impressive teams of the tournament. A final between them would surely have been cruel for either of them, but no doubt it would have been spectacular.

Keep in mind that a lot of the players on this squad also played in the final of the previous World Cup. I think that if they made it to the final, they would’ve gone with a stronger mentality cause they didn’t want to lose back to back. I wouldn’t have counted out the Netherlands if they made it to the final that year

In 98 best penslty taker ( van hojdonk ) dont even shoot... In Euro 2000- 2 penalty miss vs Italy in regular game- best penalty taker( Bergkamp) dont even shoot... Holland lose in penalty wc 98, 2014, 2022, euro 2000, euro 1996...
