The NeoLucida Plus
Celebrate 10 years of NeoLucida! The all-new NeoLucida Plus is an optical drawing aid that lets you trace directly from real life.
The NeoLucida is a modern reinterpretation of the 19th-century camera lucida, a forgotten optical drawing aid once used by artists, designers, scientists, and anyone who wanted to draw accurately from real life. When you look down into the eyepiece, you see a ghost image of your subject in front of you superimposed on your paper. You also see your hand and pencil so you can simply trace what you see!

Thank you David Hockney for helping us rediscover the camera lucida.
Absolutely love this and have been waiting for something like this to be easily found for even the most immature yet lovers of drawing in art thank you for bringing this to accessibility for professionals and amateurs alike!!
Received my NeoLucida for Christmas. Can’t wait to get into my studio to see what it can do
I was at Skagen museum in Denmark and I tried out this remarkable piece of kit. I'm awestruck how well it works.
Hmmm idk. In some cases it can be useful for a beginner artist to block out simple shapes bu it’s very bad to become dependent on. But it’s still an amazing product for certain people like lineartist.
I just got one for Christmas and am very excited to try it!
This would give me terrible neck and back pain
I think i could do line drawings with this!
Can you shrink and enlarge images? For instance, of I have a table plant that's 2 feet tall, but want to put it into a 2" x 2" space on a drawing can I do this? If so, Do you lose detail when shrinking or enlarging?

Yes the larger the distance between the NeoLucida and your paper, the booger the image would be. Also the closer the object to the NeoLucida, the bigger image you will get.
It seems that its only drawback would be the fixed size of the image being copied on an easel or desk.
Unfortunately cannot be used if you wear glasses.
I can't think of any tables I have onto which that device could have been attached.

Just make a portable base it can connect to that will sit on the table! Make it heavy enough to support the device - I'm guessing perhaps only 500 grams or even less ?
opaque projector would work a lot better.
There seem to be both instructional documentation quality, and quality control problems with these devices, as well as unexpected & undocumented constraints on the use environment. Focus alignment(depth of field), binocular control, point of view stability, field of view, & illumination seem to be the most common complaints. Most of these have to do with the device design, and some are dependent on user physiology, but these seem to be points of ignorance by the UG author.
Love it but far too expensive

You don’t pay rent do you? Sheeeesh .. my rent is 1750…
After many fruitless attempts to use this tool, I have decided that my eyes and my brain cannot coordinate properly to give me the image and my pencil on the paper. also I have found that the field of vision is extremely narrow. It just does not work for me.
So basically it allows you to trace, or rather copy, an object(s) from observation... where is the artistry, creativity, and innovation in this???

It makes you learn to draw life like objects and as you improve this goes away. Especially hands and feet for humans. The hardest to draw. Practice makes perfect.

being too lazy to watch (or skip ahead) a 3 minute video is already crazy, but being too dumb to check the description and instead type up this comment is on a whole other level of stupid
