The Negotiator: The truth comes out, final confrontation
Ойын-сауық
The corrupted policeman seemingly kills Roman (Samuel L. Jackson) and offers to destroy the evidence in return for a cut of Frost's (Ron Rifkin) take. He agrees but when he exits the house, he discovers that Roman is just wounded and that he used a microphone to broadcast his confession to the police.

Great job by the director making the audience believe Beck was behind the hit and Frost as a vulnerable hostage
So many things I absolutely love about this movie, but one my favorites is Palermo refusing to take the shot and then in this scene looking so proud and relieved that he didn't snipe an innocent man. This is the same actor who played Bull Randleman in Band of Brothers and there's something so wholesome and trustworthy about him.
David Morse is a very good actor. I always smile when his Beck says "with an injured coo here" and starts organizing everything as usual.
3:13 Get chills every time Beck starts explaining rights to Frost. You can tell he has to force the words from himself, how disgusted he is to be having to do this to a fellow senior officer.

There was also an element of guilt in Beck's voice as he had earlier believed Roman was guilty. His expression just after Roman is carted off, as he looks at the camera is one of my favourite acted moments in the entire film, sadly just missing from this clip.....

And they understood why he did what he did. Even his own lawyer thought he did it. All he had was his wife and an alleged dirty cop being sent to prison was a death sentence. He even tried to save the rat Niebaum and even felt remorseful for his death, he hated him and was bait but he needed him to get to the truth. Niebaum took the money and forced himself to believe it was Roman’s fault because if he put the report in, he’d meet the same fate as Nate and he ultimately did. All that death because a bunch of greedy dirty cops tried to get away with stealing from their fellow officers and setting up the most stubborn and aggressive and bravest of their unit to take the fall. Maybe in their pathetic minds they thought they were doing him a favor since it looked like he had a death wish and didn’t care despite the fact he’s newlywed when he was merely doing his job. Damn I love this movie

Ironically, Frost's own lawyers could have demanded Beck be charged with assault with a deadly weapon for shooting Frost after he had turned the gun on himself. Beck's statement in front of witnessing officers "You are not getting off that easy" could be used as evidence that Beck shot him Frost to prevent his own suicide. Cops are not allowed to use deadly force to stop a person from trying to kill themself to escape facing justice.

Plenty out there man. Not alot know about it or just forgot about it. If this movie came out now it would be instant Box Office Boom!
There is a magnificent art in directing that's understated imo and that's when the director uses time between dialogue to survey and chart the emotional reactions of the actors. This director magnificently did that. @2:35 just as Frost is lying his ass off and then the jig is up and we get to see the mindset of every single cop on the lawn. The chief's look conveying, "Do I look that stupid to you?" combined with "You're not fooling anyone anymore you piece of shit," to Beck's reaction which looks to me like a mixture of remorse wrongfully accusing a colleague who saw him as his friend that's blended with surprise at the man who he thought had been a hostage was the real murderer this entire time then Frost's fear as he sees Hellman and Argento being arrested. Then Farley's "How could you do this expression?" and the spotter's suppressed anger right back to the chief's same look of disgust. All of this to me isn't just scenes in a film. It's music I'm seeing with my eyes instead of hearing with my ears and each frame is so poignant and emits a powerful sensation as I sense each emotion, each reaction, each character. Then it has a perfect out of nowhere stanza of power when Beck doesn't hesitate, his rage fired with the bullet at Nate's murderer and Danny's betrayor followed by the suppressed but firm vow that Frost won't get off that easy. This scene is absolutely perfect in every way.

This movie was awesome🙂
Beck acted as if he hated Danny, for being such a good HBT. What got to me is not one of them even considered the fact he could have been set up. It was like they were so sure he did it. The only reason I think Palermo didn’t shoot Danny was because Danny had saved his life once before. Plus they all went against hostage tactics, because they are supposed to try and negotiate as long as possible with the hostage taker before they do a full breech and they didn’t do that.
I think we can assume that Danny Roman was put on trial maybe even faced jail time. All though he didn’t kill anyone he still kidnapped people, held them hostage and destroyed a federal building.

At least three of these actors were in the series “24” - Nestor Serrano, who played bad cop Hellman; Michael Cudlitz, who played the “toothpick” cop Palermo; and Carlos Gomez, who played Eagle. In 24 Day 2, Cudlitz played Rick Phillips; Day 3, Gomez played Luis Alarcon; Day 4, Serrano played Navi Araz. None of their characters lived. Also, Dean Norris, who played Officer Scott in “Negotiator”, played General Bowden in Day 2 of “24”. There were probably more.

I know its a film, but id like to think, after all the conflict for bek and roman, that they went on to be good mates, and both have a much deeper respect for the work the other does. Type of incident you need to kick start somefriend ships, because you may not like someone, but we can all like a "Good Man" and they are both good men from each side of a coin

This is a fun movie, but, the most unrealistic thing about it is that the legal consequences/repercussions of Roman's actions aren't accurate, at all. Roman would not have walked away a free man; he would have been charged with a slew of felonies in real life. Why? For the simple reason that you aren't allowed to take people hostage to prove your innocence, even if you've been set up and framed. You have to work through the courts and with defense attorneys, to do that. Roman would've been liable in part for J.T. Walsh's character's death, even if the actual shooting was done by the corrupt cops, because Roman placed him in a vulnerable situation. So, at the end of the day, Roman would've been sitting in a prison cell for a long, long time.
