    The Spurs have 8 picks/swaps between 2028-2031. That's when Wemby is going into his second contract. They solidifying the entire future year by year and still developing their previous picks. People keep saying its a bad draft? Well the Spurs just got two first round picks in exchange for 1 in a bad draft. This is what planning at another level is

    As a spurs fan, people bought into the dillingham hype way too hard. I think he could be a solid lou will lite type of guy but we have castle and all else isn’t all that important. Spurs are ready to make a move in free agency or try and make a trade for a costar for Wemby down the line

  • @denzel8827

    @@russjordan6186spurs were a top 10 defense post all star break with vassell johnson and sochan all being injured for portions throughout the end of the season. Yet they were consistently god awful on offense and bottom 10 even with wemby on the floor and now they’re putting all their bets on castle to fix it, who’s a 26% shooter from 3? Spurs fans have been brainwashed into thinking that all that matters is defense and that we will magically get better if we just keep stacking on defense when we already have the best defensive rookie of all time. Saying “we have castle and all else isn’t all that important” is probably one of the stupidest takes ive ever heard.

  • @SS-tz3qd

    @SS-tz3qd

    3 күн бұрын

    @@denzel8827 I wouldn't say they're putting all of their bets in on Castle lol. Castle is just the prefered pick for this draft specifically. It's not like they're done making moves. Plenty of moves, trades that can be made to adress offense as well as next years draft potentially which has a lot more hype around it anyways. We're only going into Wemby's 2nd year, plenty of time to work with (of course you also can't take that time for granted too much). Besides would Dilly really be the one to save spurs offense? He could help in that regard but meh

  • @denzel8827

    @denzel8827

    3 күн бұрын

    @@SS-tz3qd he wouldn’t save it instantly or alone but personally i think he has crazy all star potential. he gives off heavy maxey vibes and he’s a Kentucky guard (you know how well those do in the nba) i just think it’s stupid to waste this time to develop players while wemby isn’t the unanimous MVP of the league because we all know it’s coming soon, and by that time the spurs aren’t gonna have the luxury of developing players with huge question marks in their games like they are with castle now. It’s really not THAT big of a deal because they still have wemby and the spurs have mountains of picks, but it’s still a pretty stupid/risky move nonetheless imo.

    Conley actually was too small if u go back and watch the playoffs whenever they needed defense they'd bring in NAW cus teams would start targeting Conley. Minnesota despite being a great defense have this weird habit of leaving their guys on an island, which is fine for a time but usually really good defensive teams help and known when to stunt and give help defense, the wolves just didn't which is why they got 4-0'd by the mavs. Imagine if instead of Rudy getting killed on a drop against Luka its just Luka straight up just scoring over Dillingham and pushing him around cus he's just too small, also big difference between him and Conley is despite being almost the same height Conley is like 20 pounds heavier which is why Dillingham will struggle more than Conley as a defender

    A little deeper in the draft, Pels I think got a pretty good defensive center for the future who may not crack the rotation this year, or might get like 10-15 minutes, but in 2-3 years could really step up. Yes the jump shot’s a question but I also think the “need” for a floor spacing big next to Zion is overblown. The year with Adams they also had Eric Bledsoe which complicates things, in theory JV could shoot but that never really worked out (and low key Ingram started taking fewer 3’s the last 3 years which hurts even more), and if they get Lopez like the rumor mill suggests they’re thinking about, then Missi has the perfect mentor.

    Great recap overall Funky, but at around 9:43 you said “[Cody Williams] can dribble” which I disagree with pretty heavily. Cody Williams biggest weakness to me is his dribbling ability, more so his dribble penetration. Numerous times in college he would get stalled on a drive to the rim, or he would pick up his dribble too early, or waste a lot of clock trying to create/attack something that just wasn’t there, or just turn it over. I like Cody Williams as a prospect, but highlighting his dribbling as a strength is off the mark to me

    @@SS-tz3qd i do rate dilly extremely highly, but it’s more of the fact that this next season and MAYBE the season after are the last chances the spurs are gonna get to take big swings and naturally develop these players next to wemby while he is as well. By year 3 or 4 he’s a perennial MVP candidate. They could’ve picked anyone else with upside like williams, buzelis, or carter, and it would’ve been fine. Yet they decide to trade the 8th pick and bet on the wolves being trash in 2030 and 31 with a prime ant mcdaniels and dillingham all on their roster, and i can guarantee the wolves are gonna flip KAT and Gobert in the next few years to fill their rosters future out again. i honestly believe there’s a 1% chance the twolves are so trash in the future it warrants giving up on the insane potential of dilly williams or buzelis, and it stings even worse because these players fit the exact archetypes they need. in the long term it doesn’t matter since spurs have a boatload of picks, but getting into the habit of just throwing away picks while you have little time to still develop these young players is just plain stupid imo. wasting any time while wemby can compete would be a shame, it would be like a repeat of those lebron years on the cavs.

  • @SS-tz3qd

    @SS-tz3qd

    3 күн бұрын

    @@denzel8827 I think this all depends on what spurs do with these picks. It's worth remembering that this is seen as a insanely weak draft generally speaking (not to say there is no talent there) and so personally I don't feel too bothered about getting more assets for the future instead of drafting a player that you just don't care for. Doesn't mean Dilly won't be good but there are some clear questionmarks there. I also think the picks Spurs got in this trade are most likely gonna be used in another trade if I had to guess, regardless we really don't know how good the twolves will be in 2031. I mean thats 7 years away, we know that their whole core will pretty much be gone at that point and we have no idea what the team will look like as a whole. So the value of the pick is actually pretty decent just for that reason alone, not crazy value but not nothing certainly, would be different if it was their pick for next year for example. Anyway I think spurs will start using these assets soon enough to get another star with wemby and/or to start adressing issues with the squad. Assuming that happens and they start building a serious team around Wemby im good.
