Giulio, I have read about the Battle of Lissa but the information has been very brief. You have filled the gaps with this very informative presentation, so thank you. I don’t think I have enough information to give an opinion about the actual but would say that it is sad that so many Italian sailors died under the circumstances! Thanks! Regards, Bob

A very interesting story. In my opinion Adm. Persano only made one error, if he couldn't escape the Lissa campaign. He should have collected all his ships, then fought. The 10 minutes shifting his colours from one ship to another would have made less significance if the whole Regia Marina had been there. Maybe the Austrian Admiral would have turned tail. We never know. Thank you for sharing this video. More please. ^^

Indeed the Battle of Lissa didn't have any weight in the war, but everywhere else? Oh boy! The Ram fever, caused by this battle, in several navies was the source of a lot of problems (and deaths, civilians included) years later. I may be wrong but I think a warship even slit in two a civilian ship in one instance when a passenger ship was caught by the huge ram the othe ship had. Then, later, when the people realized how dangerous and useless were rams they removed them and in horror all realized that without rams the ships were slower. I think there was some hype with the Affondatore those days, something very common with new ships those days.
