100% - one of the best drummers and they wasted him! - This is more like it. Bet it will sound epic live.

This song sounds like when the credits roll on a movie where the dude gets the girl and saves the day but then they set up a small cliffhanger for a sequel but never actually make it. I really like this song.

My fave track off Laugh Track. The whole album is amazing and back to the sound I love most from The National. A staggering drumbeat thread thru Matt’s heartfelt poetic lyricism. There’s a small part in this song where it almost sounds like harmonica. Like Wall of Voodoo’s Rumble Fish vibe from the 80s and I thought, man…that was a really cool tone. Explore that more, guys. I’m here with you.

Here we go again! The previous album was thee best of the year, any year. I just got hipped today, to this drop, by my plugged in, college age son. Now a billion fabulous listening's lie ahead as I try to get my fill of something, I simply can't get enough of. I expect The National to be the house band in Heaven.

​@sofievandepitte7404 I think Frankenstein is absolutely gorgeous. So meditative and reflective. I found myself too in a horrible depression in middle of lockdown. I've by birth just faught most of my life with those feelings. I found myself in a deep National dive the last 3 years and when Frankenstein was released I connected to every single nuance and lyric. This,a whole different feel and yet I feel the same dna connecting the two. They were meant to compliment eachother is how I feel.

Frankenstein was already my favorite album of the year, somehow this album might be even better.

What a beautiful pair they are though .I can definitely feel the dynamic and sorta the same dna yet they feel completely different. I was still 100% obsessed wth Frankenstein still whe the rumors started circulating a few weeks ago about Laugh Track. Two of the best releases in my musical bubble recently no doubt. Just waiting on The Smile to drop lp #2!

I'm guessing they hired some very talented graphic designers. At first I thought the video style was weird, but eventually realized it's awesome. The video part of the music video is its own work of art.

The National han editado casi por sorpresa un nuevo disco. La sorpresa también llega porque este álbum suena a lo que The National lleva haciendo en los últimos años, no hay nada que no hayamos escuchado antes, pero es que además han apostado por las melodías más relajadas, sin sobresaltos, ni intensidad, algo que se echa de menos. Todo suena perfecto, muy profesional, pero con poca emoción. Suena, sinceramente, a un disco de descartes y a estas alturas se lo podían haber ahorrado. Música independiente novedades.

Nice tune but I liked the sound from Boxer much more.

I gotta say the lack of melody has really bothered me in this album. Most track sound like Matt is reading something off the paper with the band playing some music in the background. I think if you combine both FTPOF and LT , you can simply throw away half the songs by National standards. Not to say there are no good moments there's plenty of that but theres also lot of fluff here.
