Ludwig's secretary is the same woman in Airplane that kept trying to put on her make up on during the movie . She is the Director' Mom and appears in several of their films.

Interestingly, almost none of people watching and reacting to this movie got that the finger and ring Ludwig finds in his hotdog belonged to his henchman, whom Frank dispatched earlier in the meat factory.
I've always wondered if Frank not knowing the lyrics to the National Anthem was an inside joke referencing the fact that Leslie Neilsen was Canadian.

I mean jokes can have multiple layers. That could be a reason! 🤷♂️
The Naked Gun was based on characters created in the series Police Squad. It's cancellation was announced after 4 of it's 6 filmed episodes aired (the remaining two aired that summer.) It is said that the network cancelled it because -get this - it required the audience to pay too close attention in order for them to get the jokes.... somewhat prophetic given most of the mindless dreck produced today. And another bit of trivia - Detective Norberg was played by O.J. Simpson pre-murder of his wife and Ron Goldman six years later.

These kinds of comedies are pure, simple entertainment. Never fails to get a chuckle out of me no matter how many times I watch it. And it is gratifying to see newer generation watch these. Go for the next two Naked Guns and watch all of Leslie Neilsen movies if you can.

So thrilled you got to this movie and really enjoyed the reaction! As a Canadian, I have to say that Leslie Nielsen was one of Canada's most beloved comedy actors. 🇨🇦 Its kind of strange to think that he spent the beginning of his career doing drama and western movies. It wasn't until his well received role in "Airplane" that his comedy talents were really showcased. Then came the "Naked Gun" roles, and the rest is Canadian comedy history!

A few of the gags like Frank crashing into something as he parks the car, are taken from the 'Police Squad' series. I think the tall guy who's head is always out of shot was in it as well, but I'm not sure. The Queen was not very tall, perhaps not a short as is suggested here, but she was not tall. 27:24 The guy that fell into the vat was at the Dugout Dogs factory, that's his finger. My favourite one of these comedies is 'Top Secret!'.

Others have likely said this already. The introduction sequence to the movie was inspired by the short lived series Police Squad. Also naming just one parody (surely there's more) Seth MacFarlane was a big fan of the TV series and had spoofed it on Family Guy with Stewie's POV on his tricycle instead of a cop car.
It's Enrico Palazzo!!! 🤣🤣🤣 That one really got me LOL Also, Stephanie's driving and determination was so inspiring 😆 Man, I love your videos! It's always such a great time! You have a contagious laugh! Their homoerotic (for lack of a better word) jokes don't feel homophobic at all, probably that's just my opinion, but I feel they work even to this day, they feel at the same level as their humour with the ladies, so as equally outrageous, which is what matters LOL 😆 Cheers!!

Nielsen has IMDb credits a mile long. He did the well-liked SciFi "Forbidden Planet" in 1956. He was Debbie Reynolds' boyfriend in "Tammy and the Bachelor" (1957). He was on TV in the 50s and 60s, in Rawhide, The Untouchables, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Route 66, cop shows, medical shows, Westerns, pretty much everywhere. He was the doomed ship's captain in the original "The Poseidon Adventure" (1972). As a kid, I watched him in 1959-61 playing Frances Marion, "The Swamp Fox," in six episodes of The Magical World of Disney. That's the same historical character that Mel Gibson's "The Patriot" is based on. Besides Police Squad/Naked Gun, Some of his other late-life comedy roles are "Dracula: Dead and Loving It," "Spy Hard," and the live-action "Mr Magoo." He was a recurring character, a Mountie, in the TV series Due South (1994-99). That series (drama-romance-crime) is played as straight drama but often with comedy undertones, meaning that it's farcical. So he fit right in. And, his real-life father was a Mountie. (I have the entire series on disc.)
If you haven't seen it already...I HIGHLY recommend Steve Martin's LA Story. As well as, All of Me...also Steve Martin!
In the scene where Frank and his buddy have red lips they were eating pistachios. Up until the mid 80s nearly all the pistachios sold in America came from Iran, and one of the growers there dyed his pistachios red to set them apart, and you (where I lived at least) you could not find non-red pistachios. Then Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran (who was installed in the Iranian government by the CIA was placed under house arrest awaiting trial and the American government rescued him. Things went downhill from there and after that we began to rely on American growers for our pistachio needs and pistachios were never red again. I saw this movie the day it aired in the theater, and I've honestly never heard more laughter in my life. I think I laughed at least once every five minutes myself.
What the younger generation doesn't know is Herman's Hermits was a real band - "I'm into Something Good" a real song. A hit song that spent 8 weeks on the charts in July/Aug 1964. & The text in the lower corner. A copy of how MTV identified each video they played.
It will be really interesting to see your reaction to the films Robocop 3 and Space Truckers. These are cool movies 👍👍👍

Ricardo Montalban is best known for playing Khan in Star Trek, first in the 1967 TOS episode "Space Seed," and then again, 15 years later in 1982's Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Wrath of Khan is generally accepted as the best Star Trek film and a true classic sci fi epic.

The plot actually isn't bad. It's good enough that it probably could have passed for the plot of a TV series episode or perhaps a TV movie of a similar vintage. It just has a little humor woven in as well, which they did a good job at. Now, there are two more sequels. I hope you check those out as well. Perhaps, you'll get some laughs from those as well. The plots get a bit thinner & more outrageous, but the humor is dialed up as well. I'd recommend them.
