I'm a owner of a NAD and I can tell that your description of the M10's sound looks to be the signature of the brand, it is quite common other folks describing their NAD amps with the same characteristics you just did, which I personally love.

One important part of the M10 is that it comes with Dirac Live room correction. This makes a significant improvement in the sound of the unit.

thanks again for doing a review that is so in-depth on the actual performance of the amp. many times reviews will be all about the specs and features mostly with sound being last, or almost an afterthought. now in saying that, I think it might be a good idea if you did a video primer on the way that you (and other reviewers) describe sound. most of the time I understand what you mean but it might be a good ideaif you reintroduced what you mean by cool, or warm. forward or laid back side of neutral. today you got me with the "dry". there are so many descriptive words used in the reviews of speakers all having to do with temperature or color or texture. it took me a long time to figure out what any of that meant in relation to sound. what if we could have a video that just covers this, for either the newbies, or even guys like me who every once in a while hear a description that we dont fully understand.

A unique 'review' of one very high tech boi. Complete with me blanking out at the 6:07 mark. :D So here are a couple talking points that I should have mentioned in the video: - The noise-floor of the M10 is extremely low. The power supply is quiet and it produces no audible hiss when powered on . - I did not lay down a definitive conclusion in this review because I never used the M10 as intended. I did not stream music to it. I did not mess with the EQ or explore it's room-correction software. My focus was purely on the natural, unaltered performance envelope of the product. - I pronounce NAD as individualized "N - A - D" letters by choice. I don't like how NAD sounds out loud.

The review offers an accurate out of the box perspective. But then overlooks the not so secret superpower of Dirac integration which allows customisation of the sound. Thus, it can be tailored to your preference in a quite sophisticated way compared to just tweaking tone controls or DSP presets. The reason for owning a streamer is access to all the music. The BluOS application is a thing of great beauty and a joy to interact with. Suddenly all my ripped CD collection is available at the flick of a finger. It's not Roon, but its not a million miles away from Roon either. Tis a shame you didn't go there as this is the thing that separates devices of this type rather than how they sound. Circling back, it sounds sweet out of the box. Sure. But there is just so much more to this device that strikes a chord with those who stream in particular, and who just need a capable small form factor hub for their music. Having said that I get why you have done it this way and taken time to provide other reviews (which I appreciate btw).

Love watching all the videos. I'm sure you're getting those Likes and Subscriptions too. But you need to understand that a majority of us watching your reviews are dreamers, we're never gonna buy this stuff + the fact that the amount of hifi equipment available out there is an unrealistic number, it's pretty darn overwhelming. Why don't we consider doing mid-range/budget equipment reviews and preferably in complete setups that match together.(for eg. Speakers+ AVR+ bdp...) Something that a working class man can just go out there and buy. Different budgets can be considered for different videos. Just saying, I'd like to watch something like that every once in a while 🙃 ps: I love what you're already doing. Keep it up 🍻

Absolutely. Like any hobby, the more time and research you dedicate to it, the more of your resources you'll end up allocating to it. These reviews are directed to the Average Joe looking for the best sound he can afford. These components are nowhere near high end. High end is luxury car money. Ultra high end is luxury home money. If you consider these products to be the stuff of dreams, I don't think this hobby is for you or you don't want it bad enough. I'm saying this as an Average Joe myself. I've invested a lot in my system over the years, probably more than 90% of people in my class would ever consider, but the joy it brings me is one of my priorities in life. What I'm trying to say is if you have more pressing priorities in your life than demand allocating most of your resources, just get yourself a quality Bluetooth soundbar and be done with it and don't look back.

Thomas Bass Nice man. I'm definitely going to pick one of those up as soon as I can, and probably the iFi one too. But I'll wait patiently, until I score a deal on them. I've been watching the used prices, and they're slowly creeping down. Maybe I'll snag one, or both around Christmas. People seem to sell stuff cheap then, because they need money to buy gifts and whatnot. We'll see. Either way I think both of them could really improve certain setups. I would love to see what the FozSSX does with a vintage receiver, for instance. Like my Sansui 8900zdb for instance. It totally needs a little tube warmth to smooth it out, plus being able to play with the bass and soundstage. Sounds like a great idea to me. Glad you're enjoying it. I would try the JJ tube eventually if I were you. They can surprise. I was pretty impressed with a quad of 12ax7 I bought to replace some cheap Chinese ones that came in an Ebay Conrad Johnson clone preamp. I forget exactly which ones they were, but for the money. I was very happy with them. Not far off a low end, to decent NOS tube at all.

K.Guess it's fine everyone stays in there lane and this quick one has value because after all the Swiss Army crap that might be a shiny lure it is afterall an amp. That said at $2500 it ain't cheap and the tech/price makes it a hybrid item. Can't see spending that much unless you are after it's Bluesound streaming (Bluesound and NAD sister companies) and the Dirac room correction.Without those in consideration it wouldn't be worth the dime.Am thinking about either a Bluesound Node 2i to get into streaming or because of the Bluesound and Dirac the NAD C658 pre to use standalone or loop into a "real" pre or integrated. The stuff I have read or watched (especially at the excellent Hans Beekhuyzen channel the Dutch uru of all things digital audio) makes me wonder if the NAD products or MiniDSP Dirac which I think is a fuller implementation is way to go.The Bluesound as far as I read is the best user experience/interface for streamers without Roon and for all I know that may affect how Roon is implemented. But now the Node 2i @$500 for all the streaming and maybe the MiniDSP line (maxing out at $1200 for there best product the SHD) for Dirac is way to go.But that $1500 gives both with Dirac light (think it may only operate below 500 Hrz).To me this is an expensive all in one whose performance sounds like a decent Class D job but not worth the dime

I only do tidal streaming so this was perfect for me. 100% spot on on how it sounds. It also allowed me to hook up my projector and use the speakers when I watch movies. I think in terms of speaker it really matches speakers on the warm side of neutral or warm. I have a neutral pair of speakers and the vocals can be a little dry sometimes. On bass control it destroyed my previous DAC power amp combo. The bass is super clean and controlled. Overall I m very happy with it, I should pair it with better speakers than my q acoustics 3050i

I'll hip you to the first phase of product development, particularly after a budget has been determined. Once a company has a distinct vision of what they want a product to be, that vision is passed to an engineer or team of engineers. People who have a good pulse on circuits, parts, and how those elements come together. This knowledge allows them to make informed decisions that will (usually) lead to a product coming close to it's intended performance goals. Once the first prototype is assembled, tests are performed, and then the product (usually) undergoes some tweaks and adjustments. This is often when the 'voicing' occurs.

But if you are keep buying based on reviews or hype and searching something without knowing what you want and what sound you get from certain type of electronics and speakers, buying game not going to end . You may get frustration also. Basically if you’re in this hobby, you should know sound types from amps , dome, metal or horns tweeters, port bass or sealed boxed bass etc. and what to expect. finally if they sound good or bad , totally depending on your personal choice. Besides, I'm not sure that you could get as good of an outboard streamer at any price.

I have a NAD amp ($900) and it has quick bass but not as thumpy on the kick as my cheap ($300) amp. And it's more powerful and the brand is DIGITECH (a Jaycar amp). I feel ashamed cos it's a crappy brand but better amp than the NAD (subjectively). It's 200 watts per ch @ 0.1% THD and the NAD is 100 watts per ch @ 0.03% THD. Although the figures are better, the NAD doesn't sound as "natural" as the DIGITECH in the treble. And if an amp (or any other part of a system) doesn't have any characteristics it must be good (you would reckon) cos any characteristic is distortion from reality. The NAD is more "zingy" in the treble and the DIGITECH doesn't have anything unusual or characteristic in the treble. The med doesn't have any notable characteristic either but the bass does. The bass on the DIGITECH is deep and a bit heavy when you crank it and quite dominating (with heaviness rather than sheer volume). I make speakers so I can make the bass sound how I want. With a 100 mf cap and a bypass resistor of a half an ohm. Makes bass sound more "balanced" and with adjusting the bypass resistor value you can "tune' it just how you want it. The NAD bass is accurate but lacks the "tube Thumpy" sound and doesn't dominate like the DIGITECH bass does. The NAD is a bit "pumberly-pumberly" in the bass (good description).

That's a good question. The raw answer is limited time along with my inability to remain impartial when it comes to digital playback. The AMR has spoiled me, and every built-in DAC I've heard sounds like what it is - a convenience feature that's nowhere close to the performance of a good, dedicated DAC. I don't feel like saying that over and over again. I'll leave it to reviewers who can be more fair, balanced, and enthusiastic.

For example, when you have a musical montage, you often times cut in the middle of a phrase too early. Please let the music end in some way before cutting to your comments. In general the music parts where you show the piece of audio equipment are WAY too short. Don't forget that most people who watch your videos are MUSIC lovers more than equipment lovers.
