    Actual it is an very common type of humor comedians do in germany, he pretty much translates only word for word. I think a lot of stuff Gerorge Carlin did is similar in structure, going literal on words, disecting statements down to the bottom and so on. (like "I got told to take sailors and soldiers as role models, then my parents where not amused of my language") was an theme he had.

    I think it is the context that is lacking... Vince ebert comes from a small village named "amorbach", and he usually introduces that fact early on during his comedy-routines. From the reaction of the audience I would guess that he has done so, but it was before this excerpt from the show. So he's basically saying: even a funeral in the backward village that I grew up in gets you a better chance of meeting someone than the hookup-website parship.

  • @AlexanderGoeres

    a german dating agency called "parship" has the advertisement: every eleventh minute a single falls in love through us. so added up there are around 45.000 customers profiting from their service per year. if they have 5 million customers this is less than 1% of their customer base. if people understood more maths this would be a horrible ad ....

    I think AI can arise only through processes akin to natural selection. Generations of programs will need to live and die in a rich environment. AI will be life made of code. There are people taking this approach and they may in some ways succeed very soon. However, what they make will be completely alien. Let's just hope that it satisfying its desires is consistent with us satisfying our own.

  • @aidanharrison3888

    @@Bacopa68 Programs do not have desire , they could be set up to mimic desire . Computers are not sentient . Unless it's a movie . Perhaps we could believe that consciousness is some kind of epiphenomena , merely a by product of various electrochemical processes within the brain . This is not fact , but mere assertion . We living being are aware , and that is something we have no idea how to explain . As it is so far from our grasp , let the Sci Fi guys play with it . So much fun to be had .

    I agree. Eventually programs will be so complex that some people may be convinced they're conscious (that's all passing the Turing Test really means), but there's no reason to think they will or even can have an inner conscious experience. As you say in your other comment, people can choose to believe that consciousness arises from chemical or electrical exchanges, but conscious experience isn't material in nature and so cannot be studied by science as we understand it.

  • @Bacopa68

    @Bacopa68

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@aidanharrison3888 What I mean by "desire" is simply having so complex a relationship between inputs and generated behavior that the AI will seem like an animal living in a world rather than a program optimizing a set of reward functions. I did not mean to say that the algorithm set will "feel" like anything inside of itself. I'm not even sure that the fact that I feel things subjectively, that I as a human have consciousness, even matters. I do all the varied things I do because I am a complex physical system. I am not sure that my subjective experience of qualia and emotions really matter. Thus when the relationships of inputs to behaviors of an AI become complex enough, and incomprehensible to us, the AI will have desires. Whether or not the AI feels anything is irrelevant.

    Dude has absolutely no clue about modern AI. It's frightening. They do text comprehension a lot better than humans. Not worse. His points would have been valid up to the 90s.
