    There needs to be more Churches that promote Universal Salvation rightly divided from the Holy Scriptures/Bible. If there was a group of believers in Brisbane Australia they would get my vote and support. There is becoming an uprising in this holy and pure doctrine that is from God, for more is yet to be revealed for those who have overlooked it dear fellow believers. We have this doctrine because the worldly wise have heresy. Shalum/Peace

    I just came across your channel and I thank God for you my brother, I’ve been seeking the truth about Universal Salvation in Christ for a couple of years now and I’m happy to see a new face who is also studying this. I’m seeking to learn what some of the earliest church fathers preached and Apokotastasis, is by far one of the more amazing and fascinating things that I’ve had to come to grips with. Keep going!

    Jesus’ own words concerning his death, resurrection and ascension, confirm the scope of his salvific mission. This beautifully bridges the gap between Isa 44:23 and Philip 2:9-11. John 12:32:- And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw “ALL” people to Myself.”…… Emphasis added. Jesus carried out his Father’s will/desire 1 Tim 1:4 and Paul clearly understood the “scope” of God’s salvific work through Christ. It’s a shame that most of Christendom doesn't. Peace.

    Thank you for your work. Another good, inspiring video. Keep it up. You know, its always confuses me, when people say that God is absolute and perfect in all regards, and yet, for some wierd reason, he is uncapable to do, what he said he wans to do. And hows everyone says that Universalism is the "broad path that leads to destraction" without considering that, for the longest time, was a minority view that gets prosecuted for litteraly no objective reason.

    This is false information and universalism is not taught in the scriptures. When Jesus was talking about judgment, on that day, he teaches us that some will be kicked out and casted away into outer Darkness. There's no reconciling this with the idea that is false of universalism

    I appreciate your commitment to the details. There are definitely many texts used in defense of universalism that should not be used. In this case, however, the implications are decidedly universalistic - especially as they would carry, in Paul’s mind, the same force as Isaiah 45. Thanks for the feedback!

    How would you respond to Matthew, chapter 7, verses 21-23: "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'" This clearly states that not everyone will enter the kingdom

  • @orthodoxuniversalist

    @orthodoxuniversalist

    6 ай бұрын

    Definitely agree with you. This text is clear. But it implies only that there exists a group of people that are not doing the will of God and are therefore barred from entry into the kingdom, and an implied second group who are doing the will of God and are not barred from entry. It does not confirm that people cannot move from the former group to the latter. This point is illustrated by 1 Corinthians 6:9-11: “Or do you not know that the unrighteous WILL NOT inherit the kingdom of God? …And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” Great question!

    Hey, friend Really enjoying your work, and I'm practically convinced of the narrative of universal restoration-what I remain uneasy about, however, is the direct afterlife of my loved ones. What will my mother, or my brother, or grandmother (all non-Christians) experience at death? I'm an Eastern Orthodox Christian, and the exoteric answer the church gives has never satisfied me.

  • @orthodoxuniversalist

    @orthodoxuniversalist

    10 ай бұрын

    Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate your encouragement and faith! Your question is definitely a serious one, which to be honest I don’t have a perfect answer for myself. What I think scripture has revealed, however, is that we draw nearer to God in death. Both for believers and for non-believers, the veil that separates us from eternity - and specifically from the glory of God - is removed when we die, and we find ourselves unable to escape his light. While Scripture clearly defines the post-mortem experience of unbelievers as “punishment,” it’s also interesting to take into account the impact that God’s presence has on non-believers in Scripture. Paul is a good example. He spent his time persecuting Christians, yet on the road to do so he found himself overcome by God’s presence. As a consequence, he had to experience physical blindness and humiliation, yet God ordained this event to bring about the apostle’s redemption. In the presence of God, the sinner Saul became the Saint Paul. The event wasn’t safe for Saul but it gave way to the birth of Paul. Might a similar, restorative experience be in store for unbelievers after death? I think so. I believe that God, by calling all things into his presence, will work continually for the restoration of all people without exception. I’m not sure this helps, by I pray you find assurance and rest in Christ as you consider this tough question.

I mean, that would be amazing, cause it's fascinating such a wide journey - I was raised Catholic, ( though never liked lots about it, ) and then as fast as I could, I went on my own searching through "everything", long story short, I was , as I call it- called back by Christ, and I dived deep waters of thousands of different variations of Christianity, have feeling now made big circle, just yesterday finished watching amazing speaker lady explaining Orthodox Phronema, which is absolutely fascinating, but before it I "decided" that I can't agree with eternal conscious torment, and I'm contemplating salvation issues ( as universalists),,, I'm still on the fence, want to dive deep to it, but coming back to my main question ( sorry, was backtrack trying to explain where I'm at with my search) were you raised in Orthodoxy?

    What if these verses 1 Timothy and 1 John mean that God is able to save all people through the atoneing blood of His Son but only those who believe and accept the gospel in this life are the ones who will only be saved, meaning that salvation is equally avaliable to all people but only the believers who took advantage of the opportunity of salvation and accepted it while they were still here on Earth will be saved instead of meaning that everybody eventually being reconciled to God through Christ whether in this life or the next?

    Thanks for the feedback! That’s definitely a conventional view/ reading of these texts, but I would argue from the context, and from the evidence where similar language is used unmistakably to refer to all people in other scriptures (see the rest of the series for examples) that an argument for such a limited meaning is not tenable. I’m definitely open to hearing any strong cases that can be made for the views you mention.

    Hi, I recently converted to Christianity 2 months ago after a lot of internal conflict. The conflict still continues though on individual doctrines, especially pertaining to hell. I was wondering if you could respond to this objection that the fathers of the 1st - 5th centuries believed that only baptized Christians living in the way of Christ in the church would be saved. And that the doctrines that were established at the time were past down by generation. Thus, the orthodox and Catholic Church adopt the idea of eternal torment because of the unchanged doctrines accepted by the early church.

  • @orthodoxuniversalist

    @orthodoxuniversalist

    10 ай бұрын

    Thanks for reaching out! And thanks for sharing your story! I admire you for wrestling with the issues. To the first part of your question, I would agree with the statement that the early fathers believed that “only baptized Christians” were saved. I would also agree that, at this time, the doctrines that were established by the early church were past down fairly accurately from the beginning. However, you mention specifically the period of the 1st-5th centuries. It gets interesting when we realize that universalism wasn’t condemned in any formal creed, confession, or council until the 6th century, and it was condemned at a time when the Eastern Roman empower -Justinian - was so determined to control the church that he even imprisoned the pope. Many open Christian universalists lived in the first five centuries (Origin, Gregory Nyssen, Clement of Alexandria, etc.) who were highly admired by their contemporaries and not condemned for their universalism. In fact, they were even endorsed as leaders in their respective, church communities. There was a certain set of essential beliefs within the Early Church, which I think are summarized nicely in the Nicene and Apostles creeds but neither of these creeds condemns universalism. The name for the channel was actually chosen in reference to Gregory Nyssen, who was a clear universalist and designated “the standard of orthodoxy” by his peers. I briefly discuss many of the points I’ve alluded to in the “Common Objections” playlist on the channel, and specifically address some of the history in the video “Historical or Heretical.” I pray you find the answers God has for you in his perfect timing. Welcome to the family and to the pursuit of the kingdom!

    @@weezy894 I attribute great importance to the councils as an essential element for understanding church history but I can’t bring myself to attribute infallibility to every ruling they have produced. In the earliest councils (1-4) I personally find reflections of the infallibility of Scripture and therefore accept them as true representations of the early faith. But from the fifth council onward I find it hard to accept them in their entirety. Obviously there are a huge number of people who disagree with me, whom I respect a great deal. Thanks for sharing your take. I agree with you completely that any tradition promoting the idea that reconciliation with God can be gained without wanting him and repenting of sin would be “upsetting.” Yet this isn’t at all what historic Christian Universalism proposes. A long punishment in the next life for the unrepentant - even one that last ages - is an idea defended by the earliest Christian universalists. The difference is simply that such punishment can serve a good end - namely, reconciliation with God - and is not simply an end in itself. Thanks again for sharing!
