I also thought it would've been scary. However the movie leads us to understand the tragic life of Arthur and empathize with him, being with him all the time. If the director had chosen the TV shots, we would've seen the scene in a "spectator"'s perspective, thus alienating us from that nutcase.

Kinda reminds me of The Truman Show, I've always wished they filmed the flashback scenes in certain differed styles to match the Past eras of how common television was shot. Baby flashbacks in black-&-white, childhood flashbacks in 70s looking washed-out-color video, college flashbacks in 80s looking somewhat-grainy/darker-tone Super16mm film.

This happened the year I was born. The Franklin Act was passed by Reagan the following year. It increased screening and scrutiny for individuals going on radio and television talk shows. The act was controversial and was challenged in the courts as a first amendment issue. The same year, 1982, President Reagan backtracked on his stance regarding federal funding for mental health care in the USA. His bipartisan approach helped to increase standards in State hospitals and provided low or no cost medications and therapy for the mentally disturbed and disabled. The change of heart by the notoriously tight Reagan helped us reach a point today, in 2024, when the cities have lower crime rates, fewer addicts, less homelessness, etc. It is a sad thing that Murray died, but Arthur Fleck really did, unwittingly, change the country and make it a better place to live.

My father was about 8 years old when Murray died live. Gotham was never the same until old age caught up with the Joker. I can't imagine what it was like to live during the 2000s when Batman and Joker were killing each other.

I remember Murray back in the days. Anybody remembered that one guest he had on his show, he had a Ventriloquist puppet that kinda scared me, I think his name was Arnold Wesker.... I think, Or that one time he had Harvey Dent (Im not kidding), That was that drama between Dent and Murray when Murray mentioned his dad and it got a littled heated.Either way his death came as a shock and let me and my dad tramautised R.I.P Murray

Man, I remember hearing about this from my parents because I wasn't even born when this happened. I didn't doubt that it happened because everybody talked about it online, and there's news articles and television clips talking about it, but I never thought that a tape actually existed. NCB destroyed every tape of this broadcast and Murray's family even begged people to destroy every home recording out of respect for him, so how the hell did you find this?

Saw this live at night, i was traumatized from that, i was young, watched st alone at night since my parents didnt really care much, and it just gave me a new perspective on life itself, giving me the opportunity to learn what caused the murder. And now, as a journalist at BNN10, I think this, right here, gave me the inspiration, for the worst ways, if what i am currently, and now on its anniversary, i cant help but be silent as i see this recording....
