The Murders in the Rue Morgue by Edgar Allan Poe Full Audio Book
Ойын-сауық
The Murders in the Rue Morgue published by Edgar Allan Poe in 1841 is the original detective novel. Along with The Purloined Letter, it established the genre's important elements: a seemingly unsolvable murder, eccentric genius private detective, the oblivious sidekick foil, the overconfident yet feckless authorities, etc.
Dupin, master of deduction, solves the impossible mystery of the Rue Morgue murders with his superior powers of observation and analysis.

Poe takes a helluva long time to explain to us what we already know! He just stretches it out a bit.
had to go through quite a few recordings of Poe's story until I found this one: good reading voice and pleasant accent. so happy now!

Do you have a favourite reader of The Raven? I have a version in my head but I can't find anyone that matches exactly.

@@arlindfazliu26 thanks, Christopher Lee is prob my favorite.
Poe is such a genius. It’s almost impossible to understand how he could have achieved all of this in a period of at best two decades. Lucky one only gains by reading his stories several times. Especially Eureka

I'm afraid I'm so far beneath Mr. Poe intellectually that I shall never understand Eureka, especially, no matter how often I might read it. But I love & revere him. First read this in Grade Three, a birthday gift from a family friend, & it was love at first read. I couldn't BELIEVE writing could be like this. At eight, I was only used to classic children's literature. Oh, how blown was my little mind. 👏🏻

@@h.calvert3165 like you I stumbled upon him by accident. And I read murder in rouqe etc , the craven etc. And then I learned he actually invented the hole crime genre- - Sherlock is ( sorry fans ) what we today would call plaguing , the first close room murder , not to mention everything he had accomplished, in the army, mathematics and the book about the universe. How close it actually comes to what Einstein later called the relativity theories. His intellectual genius is not up for debate. And his addiction ( at least periodicals morphine and alcohol etc neither ). There’s is a hypothesis that the human brain evolved from the use of drugs mushrooms, and such things. It’s a hypothesis. But a funny thought at least
Thank you! I'm listening to this for my detective fiction class. I appreciate your narration!

awesome reading!
This reading doesn't match my 1830 copy of the story identically. Some words are outright opposite in meaning, definition. Listener be enlightened. Yes the voice is great, the pace is great. Much appreciating the upload. 😁
Excellent read.😊😇
Thank you❤

I swear, this is just French Sherlock Holmes, before Doyle began writing said detective.

Dupin predates Sherlock Holmes by more than 40 years. By that logic, Sherlock Holmes is just English Dupin.

Doyle actually took inspiration from the stories of Edgar Allen Poe, that’s why they both write under crime fiction. And is also why Sherlock Holmes was even a thing in the first place
so chilling to read and imagine Poe was a devil of a writer!
