The Mumbai Mafia Marathon Runner | Bad Blood
Ойын-сауық
Rahul Jadhav is a rising star in India’s marathon community. He has competed in many events and he also runs for charity. Rahul is also a vocal advocate of sobriety and is a counsellor by profession. However, this isn’t what his life looked like a decade back. Rahul was introduced to the infamous Mumbai underworld in his teens and he quickly rose up the ranks of crime. From laundering vast sums of money, to criminal intimidation, and arms’ dealing, he did it all. His name was associated with some of India’s most dreaded gangsters. How did this man, who was also an addict, change his life? This is the story of this episode of Bad Blood, VICE Asia’s ongoing series looking at crime and criminals via a unique lens.

To all of us who struggle, never give up. I am an addict and everything that comes with the addiction. I have been clean for 2 years now when i could never picture my life without my vices. Keep you head up and eyes straight ahead and you will make it.

No matter where you grow up.. it is easy to become a "Product of your Environment"... the only thing that can cause somebody to break that pattern is a strong mindset.. and as Rahul demonstrated here - you don't have to be born with that ability.. you can choose to develop it.

@_ Sionor literally
Im an American who lost his way many years ago, i didn’t care, i hated the world and everything in it, i was a predator and everything was prey, took me years to escape that and turn my life around. Its a long road, but it can be traveled. I just recently squared away my legal troubles and have successfully done so, but the mentality is the hardest thing to lose. A journey of a thousand miles begins…with one single step.

Good work on your journey. It is difficult, but it’s possible. I too used to be very angry, very violent. I would often go look for trouble, and was good at finding it. Some of the things I’ve done still haunt me to this day, but that’s what keeps me from doing them now. I learned that I genuinely care about people, and my lifestyle was very much at odds with that. I was tired of getting arrested, tired of going to jail and court. My life is very peaceful now, and I’m so much happier. It took a LOT of work to get to where I am now, but life is so much better. Good luck to all trying to find their peace in this life.

Glad he could take all the negative crap in his life and realize he could use that to help others. Usually people who have been through the same or similar are in the best position to help others and the help come from a deeper more meaningful place.
now we're talking this was too good the man narrating his own story made this even more special. india has many untold stories
Woooow-this story is wonderful and faith-restoring, that people can change/become a better life/person! Like Rahul said: "Not everyone gets this chance- but he did and he grapped it. I'm very happy for him to be such a respected and for the community helpful person now. ... and being an "good example"/role model for others 🖤
What a great story! Such an inspiration to see him fight back. Another great video from VICE!
This is a great story and lets me know that everyone can live a happy life if they truly want it. Big respect for this little short video. I as well deal with addiction so it's really nice to see that he overcame his addiction and has a wife and a happy life now.
