I had the opportunity of shooting an MP-40 before, it's so strange how controllable the recoil is. The thing is 86 years old and it give some modern firearms a run for their money, just insane.

When I see military veterans, who need help loading a shotgun, I have a greater appreciation, for the firearm knowledge I possess. For many years I had assumed, that military members would have more experience and knowledge of firearms. However I've found that most military personnel, never expand beyond their standard primary weapon training. But at least you completed your 600 hours of mandatory DEI training.

Yeah there aren't too many situations you would use a shotgun . Infantry might use for breaching, and I think the navy basic training involves shotguns. But in my time in the army I only ever shot an m-4, M249, M240, 50.cal and Mk19

Most people, even in the infantry don’t have the opportunity to handle shotguns, but most people are willing to learn

There were 3 makes of shotguns available during the Vietnam Wars. Shotguns were shown to be effective in dense jungle warfare, close combat engagement, tunnels etc. The Stevens and Winchester shot guns even came with bayonets. I believe these shotguns were repurposed from WW2.

@@kagan.dunlapMy large family and our friends have always been military members, firearm collectors, and enthusiasts. I fired an M1 Garand, and many other things at 8 years old. We never really associated with people who shied away from, or disliked firearms. If they were not willing to go to the range, you probably couldn't count on them for any other stressful situation.

MP40 was the first machine I shot too, growing up my Dad was a massive WWII collector and had several WWII Machine Guns, huge collection of German Lugers too, was pretty cool.
