I had this same thing happen. A local stray that I would pet and occasionally feed led me to her kittens and kept looking back to make sure I was following. When we arrived, she was purring and butting into me. I crouched down and marveled at her 3 kittens, playing with them with a long piece of grass. I didn't want to touch them and leave my scent for other animals to smell. When I looked at the mother, she was gone. There was only me with her kittens. I wasn't sure what to do so I just waited in the sun with them. It was a pleasant wait. About 40 minutes later, she came back with a half dead mouse. She pretty much ignored me at this point and was trying to make the mouse move more in front of her kittens. I guess my job as babysitter was done now so I went back home.

I always laugh when people say, "cats aren't domesticated". They literally learned a language to communicate with us, and will trust us to take care of their young even if they're not currently in a home. Don't let cats fool you, they're on team human all the way.

They did not learn a language to communicate with us. We have learned to understand their language. Feral cats have been observed using all of their known vocals on other feral cats and kittens without any human interaction. The notion that the meow was invented to communicate with humans is just an urban legend perpetuated by ignorant people on websites that just keep repeating misinformation. I have been studying feral cats, live trapping and domesticating them for many years now. Some I give to loving homes, some I have neutered and then release, some I keep as pets. I currently am owned by 12 indoor/outdoor cats and approximately 110 outdoor cats.

My cat didn't make me follow her. She brought her kittens and started living there as if she owns the house.

My cat (rip ❤) gave me her kittens one by one, she went outside to get one by one. It’s so cool that she trusted me like that, she knew I would take care of them. Cats are amazing creatures.

Mama looks so skinny but her babies look so well fed. Good job mama kitty. I hope they're doing ok still.

Cats are so smart. They lead you where they want you to be. My cat also take me around the house and my garden to show me stuff I should be aware of.

I once was eating at a restaurant outdoors and a cat begged me for like 10 minutes to give her food and when I finally gave her food she left it there and disappeared (I thought "WTF??") but then reappeared again after a few seconds with 4 kittens. It was very sweet to witness some mother love right there.

not really, young see and imitate what their parents do, if the mother is nice and trusting so to will the young. If the parents "run" from a threat, so too will the young. These are just doing what they see the mother was doing.

This is in Westport, WA. I go there multiple times a year for fishing, Pirate Days, etc. There is a whole colony of around 30+ cats that live in the rocks by the jetty there. They are mostly abandoned cats, and some ferrels. They banded together and created a colony. They are well taken care of by the locals.

The place where this video was shot is probably Üsküdar. In other words, it is one of the most crowded and touristic places in Istanbul/Turkey. So I don't think the cat was a person for days. Hundreds of people are probably passing by where it stops in 1 minute. Also, we Turks love stray animals as a country. When we see them on the street, we give them food

She's a smart mama, first of all that is good hiding place for kittens, and she understood enough that, that person would help her. Clearly she had good experience with other people as well, which is very good.

The fact that this cat was so very trusting of humans to the point that she led humans to her kittens and allowed the humans to pet her suggests that she's probably a stray rather than a feral cat. From the look of her and from the sound of her meow, she might not be very far out of kittenhood herself.

@@DeliciousIcE132 Strictly speaking, the kittens are feral but I imagine that they probably have looked to their mother for clues on how to respond -- just like human children without being conscious of doing it watch their caregivers and their elders for clues on how they're expected to behave in a situation. The fact that the mother is clearly so willing to trust humans (or at least *these* humans) probably tells the kittens that they don't need to be frightened of the humans even though they're clearly ambivalent (which is only natural since the kittens have never seen these humans before).

The inter-species communication and trust between cats and humans blows me away. I've have more than two dozen cats in my life, and cats always amaze me how they reach out to us.

I remember a stray in my back yard was wanting me to follow her. I did and could hear meowing but I couldn’t find where. It turned out there was 6 kittens stuck inside a wall of an old shed that belonged to my neighbor!!! We had to break the wall to get them out. Luckily all survived and are in happy homes!! I wanted to keep them all lol.

I'm thinking they follow her at night to more populated areas when no one is around. There would be crumbs and trash etc. That is probably why they look great. Mom is familiar with people she is probably fed at least a few times a week by people. They are so savy😍

No she most likely was born there. That's Ala Moana park in Oahu Hawaii the lady is a Vet. She feeds, neuter and spay the cats. The rocks is right up to the water or the sea. The cats know her very well. Plus guys spear fish and rod fish there those cats are never hungry. Last time me and her counted cats we counted 89. She tries to find homes for them. I was there that day when she made thus Vid. Really nice lady
