I love that the momma drank the water too. A lot of the time, cats are stubborn about drinking water and try to only get the hydration from their wet food if they aren’t on a dry food diet. Sweet cats. They mean no harm. Just protecting themselves from awful people when they need to be sassy.

@@droose5158 lol! The “wild”. Sorry but I run a nonprofit TNR in New Orleans, LA and have quite a lot of experience with cats. These “stray” cats are not what you call feral or “wild” cats. They are fed by humans. They will typically eat wet and or dry food. For any cat, feral, stray, even indoor house cats, it’s tough to get them to drink water as nonchalantly as this one in the video does. Not trying to be argumentative. Just know a thing or two with the 20yrs experience.

Oh I have three of them outside now they drink water everytime I give it to them or any time it rains I find them drinking from the once empty bowl they live in the forest but that doesn't mean they don't eat food that people leave out or they find and dog food in the neighborhood in other people's yard I use to have 9 cats of my own but I never met a cat that won't drink water

I had kitten like this one show up at my house a couple of months ago, except he's black and grey. He was just about as hungry. I decided to take him in and now he's living in the lap of luxury. Its so sad how stray cats have to live like this, you cant blame the mom for being hungry but you also cant help but feel bad for the kitten :(. Just poor hungry cats D:

She's so clear about what she wants and what her kitten's (and human's) acceptable behaviors are! I heard the swat and the vocalizations, but she didn't seem to have claws out. The equivalent of "Where are your manners, child?" and "You can wait your turn." Shows why housecats should have their own food and water bowls. They may be social creatures, but they are solitary hunters and are not used to sharing their own meals at the same time (even if some don't mind).

You're a fool, they are both starving and the only reason they look semi healthy is because people naturally feel an attraction towards babies and instincts kick in. Mama is being fed because people see the baby. If you were starving you'd be defensive over food too. She didn't hurt her baby, she just wanted to make sure she got enough to keep going too.

Infact I study theology and cosmology on a daily basis (well as daily as I feel bothered too when I'm not distracted.) Can we talk about how beautiful the mother is? She’s skinny but her coloring is very pretty. I’ve also never seen an orange kitten look so intensely orange before. Gorgeous. Edit: the mom looks like a torbie (tabby x tortoiseshell) and the kitten is just an orange tabby but they are both so pretty! I wish I could bring them home with me.

I rescued a female cat from the streets that looked similar to this mama, and she was so skinny you could see her ribs, Z. I cleaned, vaccinated and everything and she turned out to be so beautiful. They just need care and love. Best behaved pet I have ever had.

I wish you could give those poor babies a bit more food. Anyway, at least you fed them, thank you for that!

I love how the kitten went from 0 to 60 when he noticed it was food. Looooove the kitten. So much spunk.😊

It's such a huge and scary world for street kittens. So much noise and movement going on around them, tummies empty, mouth dry, having to adapt quickly in such orderly chaos, caused by these giant, tall, creatures with the two legs.

The Mother cat only hit the kitten when it was inhaling the rest of the food. She had to get baby away from the food so she could get something to eat. The we're both very hungry but Mom was skinny. Baby looked fairly well nourished. If you had a second tray you could perhaps have divided up the food so they could both eat at the same time. Just an thought. Thank you for what you are doing to help the street cats!

Adult cats drink only water! It's their natural source of hydration. Did you think it wanted coffee or tea? No one should give adult cats milk to drink. It causes much intestinal distress. Poor mother was obviously dehydrated as well as starved.

The mother has beautiful green eyes and a beautiful fur coat

It sad to see any animal staving.. soo sad. Someone dropped of a baby kitten on my door step 1 week old. I rushed to walmart to get kitten formula and now it big and chubby. Its sooo sad, the importance of nueturing animals so more staving kittens wont enter the world

It’s like survival instincts and maternal instincts are battling each other. Poor mother cat. The baby is very vigorous, and it looks like it is thriving. I wonder if it is old enough that he starts to leave the mother? (For home cats, usually they recommend adoption after 8 weeks-it is when mother cats’ maternal drive decreases, and babies start to wander away naturally. He does seem awfully small to survive on his own though.

That kitten is adorable, the patterns are amazing. They’re both greedy though 😥

This makes me so sad to see cats that hungry and dehydrated. Thank you for feeding them and giving them water 💖

me too so i could cry where i saw the kitten go for the food - it really hurts to see. That must have been freaking hungry. So I would have given them more to eat or taken them home.
