The momma is kneading dough inside the house -- something she likely hasn't felt like doing for weeks or more -- she's only a cat mom but recognizes the love shown by you for providing her family the three things it needed: a house, fresh water, and a cat chow pile! The mother was obviously accustomed to human contact. She was someone’s pet. What kind of heartless animal would abandon a mother with a litter of kittens? Finding homes for adorable little kittens might be a mild nuisance, but if you own an intact female cat, this is the cost of refusing the cost of spaying.

I have seen a cat do the same to me, immediately approached me asking for food, meowing a lot. Not saying it's guaranteed to be real but cats do get VERY friendly when they become desperate especially when they've been with humans before
