Haha! So cool. Thanks for the review and comments. Cool that you have seen me somewhere on KZread and not just for this react video! Yes, that was 4 years ago. It wasn't staged, I was actually passing (I had played the other piano that is here too) and it was free so I thought I would play something and then just carried on. By the end there was a huge crowd and I was going to play Bohemian Rhapsody (I had played another Queen one before) and then the gentleman interrupted me and asked if I could play it. And I learnt it by ear, I create my own piano arrangements by ear as I am lucky to have perfect pitch too. But it's a bit "robotic" as i did not really understand it as much, but after watching the movie and following the music and background a lot more, it's a more expressive now! Anyway, thank you and great channel!

btw i prefer the booming bass over the melody, otherwise it doesnt quite feel as "full" in my opinion

Haha, when you're talking about doing the "emoting" while playing during the Bohemian Rhapsody video, I got a huge flashback to my elementary school piano teacher who would do really exaggerated stuff like that and it always made me giggle. Which is probably partly why he did it. 😂 Loving these videos, I'm getting back to piano after a break of like 17 years. I'm actually watching a bunch of these videos while waiting for my digital piano to arrive in the mail (hopefully it'll be here on Monday). I really cannot wait!!

"Throwing yourself around" while playing music to me is a fine line. Certain people when I see do it, it pulls me into the performance. Other people (Marcin, the guitarist comes to mind immediately) just come off as full of themselves. Excellent video though! I doubt I'd ever have the amount of passion and dedication required to develop this level of analysis and skill.

I honestly hate those set up performances and see it as a disgrace and don't consider them true musician. As a musician my philopsy is that you a musician should play music for people because you want to give them a message and try connecting with the audience trough the emotion you are putting in the music then send those emotions to the audience and because of passion not to gain fame which absolutely disgust me but that is just my opinion everyone is free to have one

The people who show off the most to get fame and recognition are the worst kinds of musicians both in artistry and musicality… all the greats and top performers and students tend to be overlooked and largely ignored because they don’t feel the need the show off, they win prestigious piano competitions that no one cares about, but an amateur or beginner turns up at a random busy train station and suddenly everyone is listening and praising their talents like they’re the best in the world.

ironically the pieces and song that they play are just overplayed easy composition and that makes me laugh since anybody can play it and you are totally right about the top performed to gain fame they play because they love it and gained fame from it without ever asking for it. Chopin for me is the best example@@markfowlermusic

I partially disagree you're right no one should play just for fame or without any purpose or passion. But on the other hand there is nothing wrong with a little confidence booster here and there

You know, even if he is working to build his KZread channel, I say good for him. He performed the piece really well and he's a good pianist. KZread is like a business and you need to attract attention by creating interesting videos. So more power to him... And, if a pianist is showing off in a public forum thats awesome! Its inspiring... What good is a pianist that doesn't share their music with people or express themselves. Regardless of how sophisticated a piece of music is, if its played well thats all that really matters...
