I've been watching him for years. I think he's gifted and has a walk in. Anyone else think this?

I've been following Jonah for a few years now. I'm no expert... in fact I'm the exact opposite of an expert... but his potential did seem massive. I can't judge how well he's progressed in recent years, but I'd say he still has a great shot at being a concert pianist.

Remember, there is always going to be someone better than you at everything, except being you. There will eventually be someone better than Jonah, or maybe there already has been. But if your goal is to be the best at piano, you will fail every time. But if it is to play piano because you love it and to play around friends, you will succeed

I feel like dynamics should be one of the first things you learn along as using the peddling but I mean not using dynamics but really just knowing how to use them. It would help him play even more well

I would have thought he had a piano with thinner keys that allows for smaller hands to reach more notes

I honestly think it could seem like he's his a pleateu because of what he was doing in his younger years and the pieces he was learning. Yes, the pieces he is learning are very impressive pieces and impress lots of people, but like he said it took him 10 months to learn Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2. I think there's a chance that learning incredibly difficult pieces too early could garner negative results, simply because there's foundational work that can be built for years and years. Obviously I could be wrong, but I genuinely think learning this caliber of pieces at this young of an age could do more bad than good in simply taking too long to learn.

An example I'd like to mention is actually Lang Lang. If I'm not mistaken, Lang Lang applied to Curtis Institute at the age of 13 with a recording of him playing all Chopin Etudes in Op. 10 and Op. 25. These are foundational pieces that teach very specific techniques and ensure you master those techniques to even play the pieces the way they're meant to be played. Pieces like Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, La Campanella, and Moonlight Sonata without a doubt teach you techniques, but it's not an actual study of technique in the same way that something like Chopin Etudes are.
