Nik Nocturnal \m/ A video explaining the difference between modes and scales would be hugely appreciated. I was suprised to discover, through your examples, that I lean towards different modes while jamming than I first thought. Leads me to think that my idea of modes being a way to compartmentalize scales might be inaccurate.

Double Harmonic Major is my favorite. It's just major (Ionian) but with two augmented seconds, (like the one in harmonic minor, hence the name harmonic). It sounds like Phrygian dominant but better in my opinion. It's like a dissonance that never truly resolves but is pleasant enough that it isn't unusable like Locrian usually is.

That was The Scnitzel my man! I’ve been looking for ways that Locrian is used since most people disrespect it who don’t understand metal. Solos with a flat fifth are just diabolical AF when played over power chords (non-stop perfect fifths). Yours was fantastic! Anyway the song The Evil has Landed by Testament, how much of that is played with Locrian? Certainly the verses right?

Please please do a lesson on modes and scales! I've been playing for 10 years, on my own terms, and have come to realise that I keep getting stuck when writing because I am rusty with modes and scales... everywhere I look, they are explained in a weird way so I need it simplified! These solos were awesome btw! Good job!

I've been playing guitar for a little over 10 years now, and I sort of knew modes, but only really decided to brush up on it last night. Turns out, I've been playing all the modes the entire time and haven't realized it. But still do the lesson video! I'd love to hear the perspective from someone else

Synyster gates has a huge background in blues and jazz, and he is very vocally open about the influence it has on his music, so yeah that is exactly how his guitar style is haha.

@@gergoretvari6373 This Means War is an exact example for A7X Also over half of the entirety of Pantera is literally country metal, the only way you could possibly argue they aren't is if you have literally never listened to a single Pantera song in your life.

One thing though is I feel like the leads are a little bit low in the mix on some places, don't get me wrong cause your playing is effin fantastic but I can't help but feel like the lead could be turned up more. Might just be the fact that my ears are giving up on me though, keep up the good work :)
