I love you videos because you tell nothing but the truth. I've been in Ethiopia for 3 months this year and I didnt trust any entity. I always had to check and check again to make sure that any claims someone makes is true. These are key pointers and top tier guide he is giving you everyone. I will be going back soon. Keep up the great content. I know alot of people don't like the camera in Ethiopia and yet you are still able to get great content.
What a story. We did our tour to the afar region with Visitdanakildepression - and it was hands down the best tour I ever took. We were only one car, 1 driver, 1 guide, and 1 security guard (depending on the region we even had a second, local, security guard). Ben definitely has a good point, do your research when you go in the region and only go with a proper tour guide (let them send you photos of previous tours, the car, the equipment).
Great video! I remember that rotten eggs smell when I climbed both Mount Shasta and Hood!! It it one of the most horrible smells I have ever experienced.

well done to the adventerous travellers.& your brilliant observations, and generous advice. Few facts about the Danakil Depression. 1. 1 of the top 11 dangerous spots in the world. 2. hottest and most lifeless in the world. 3. One of the dangerous aspect is absence of breathable oxygen 4. air is burnt & filled with poisnous gas people can only stay a short time, risk to health. 5. aggressive -minded natives living on fringe of dessert (agressive perhaps because of need as Ben kindly pointed out) 6. risk of volcanic erruption.

Dallol is a unique, terrestrial hydrothermal system around a cinder cone volcano in the Danakil Depression, northeast of the Erta Ale Range in Ethiopia. It is known for its unearthly colors and mineral patterns, and the very acidic fluids that discharge from its hydrothermal springs.

You were close to Tigray that draws the world attention. So it is very usefull for the inhabitants to film the AfraThey obviously need help but for that they need much more attention. Whenever I see people complain about too many boatrefugees i will place your video under it. If you look Afar up on Google it is poverty everywhere. There is no attractive city in Afar where the people live under better conditions. It is most terrible, desperate place i have ever seen. I hope some rich person sees your video.

Hey Ben. Good to see your latest vlog from the Danakil depression. Firstly, good to hear you made it back safely to Addis. Looks like you chose a very dodgy tour guide to visit Afar region. Could you please call out the tour guide's name so other visitors avoid them in the future...? Is it the same tour guide company that came up with a 60yr old bus from the museum? Thanks God it broke down before even leaving central Addis - LOL! If that cranky old bus had made it to the Danakil depression, it sure would never have made it out of there, and would by now been part of the Danakil landscape- LOL! In the future, i strongly advise you 1st check the review comments from past travellers before giving your hard-earned cash to a tour guide. That said, Ethiopia is incredibly beautiful and gifted, with natural beauty + rich history + diverse cultures. Another interesting fact you may like - Did you know that over 80% of mountain ranges in Africa are found in Ethiopia alone. Thus, all central parts of Ethiopia are mountainous and relatively cool. It's only in mainly border areas near Somalia, Djibouti and Sudan one encounters hot, lowland, and deserty environments. I was slightly surprised you and hardly anyone in your group was carrying a hat to protect you against the sun. BTW - The rotten egg smell comes from the Hydrogen Sulphide being spewed by the volcano. It's apartly the same smell as other planets like URANUS, VENUS, and MARS. Also, although the Danakil depression is well below sea level, it's not the lowest place on earth. The lowest point is the Dead Sea located in Jordan and Israel. I really enjoyed your latest vlog and I'm sure you would've had a better experience with better tour guide. In the end, i personally think that using a dodgy tour guide hopefully only gave you a better life experience and better storyline in case you plan to write a book in the future. As the saying goes- The journey is as exciting as the destination. Look forward to your next vlog mate. Sam
