@Lee Bassa, Our first song was 'You're The Inspiration', that was 35+ years ago. Good to see another long hauler!
That's what music was like back then: All talent, no auto-tune, and actual musicians not synthesizers generating the music.

Back in the day when the norm is that artists write their own music and lyrics. It's full of heart since every songs has their own personal touch unlike the modern music where songs and artists are in a streamlined industry production.
The 70s were full of love songs, a wonderful time for music

70S, EXACTLY, THE BEST DECADE OF CENTURY 20!!! IT WILL HAVE NO A NEXT DECADE BETTER!!!
I was 5 years old when this came out,and i remember tearing up when this song came on my mother's car radio..she asked me" why are you crying?" And i didn't even know why, i told her. I guess this was the power of his voice..filled me with emotion i didn't even understand as a child.💝

Same. It cuts through all clutter to touch our deepest emotions. This is what perfect music paired with a unique voice sounds like. And it touches the heart.
Yay, finally a reaction to this gorgeous classic, my favorite from this fantastic band. It’s wonderful to see a live performance with horns and strings. Beautiful
The voice of Peter Cetera wow.
Love how you feel it, Mel. Truly, one of the greatest love songs of all time, so passionate and yet so gentle. Thanks!
This is such a beautiful song, thanks for doing it!
I have always LOVED this song. Thanks for the reaction!
us guys from the 1970s were all pimps, you play this song or the old motown songs, the girls never stood a chance, the game was rigged in our favour,we couldnt lose, mel your reaction proves my point. great reaction guys
All we had was am radio. Chicago was one of the bands, that dominated the airwaves.

That's my favorite Chicago song.
Peter Cetera had a solo career also. Amazing voice "Glory of Love" "You're the inspiration" "After All" "The next time I fall" "Hard habit to break" -Enjoy the ride

His voice really is a freak of nature. Has a beautiful rasp near the higher notes, and is smooth as silk at the same time. Try singing one of his songs, and it hits home just how amazing his vocal range is. My childhood was dotted with his songs playing somewhere in the background. Sublime and underrated.

Peter recorded You're The Inspiration w/Chicago. However, Stay The Night is NOT a Chicago song...technically.
Check out Peter cetera who is the lead singer of Chicago and Amy Grant song Next time I Fall in Love. He and Amy Grant have beautiful beautiful locals. Immigrant was so beautiful back in the day. ♥️❤️
Chicago is an amazing band! Check them out 💜
You guys have to do "25 or 6 to 4" by Chicago. This rabbit hole will be an unforgettable adventure. "Colour my world","Saturday in the park", sooooo many.
'Hard To Say I'm Sorry.'❤
This was from American Bandstand in 1976 and it was one of the very few times an Act sang "Live". Peter Cetera and Terry Kath (1943-1976) were the two original lead singers. Peter left in the 1980s while Jason Scheff took his place. Also if you can listen to Color My World, Saturday In The Park or their Version of I'm A Man by The Spencer Davis Group.

They had a Majestic sound on several of their hits!
"If You Leave Me Now" was one of a string of soft ballads that propelled Chicago into the 80s. Others by them include, "Stay the Night", "I Don't Want to Live Without Your Love", "Will You Still Love Me?", "Look Away", "Hard to Say I'm Sorry", "Hard Habit to Break", "You're The Inspiration".

Those songs you mention are nothing like this. The 8os were very different from this string heavy flowing song…No Tell Lover another awesome 7os classic before the 8os brash change…
I’m so thankful that my dad raised me to music like this. ❤️ Chicago is one of the best bands ever & no one can sing like Peter Cetera. I love the live version of this song featuring Philip Bailey of Earth Wind and Fire 🥰
Hard to believe, but the studio version is even more amazing.....
Y’all should react to more Chicago. Definitely a rabbit hole you should explore you want be disappointed..
Now this song brings back some precious memories. Thanks for reacting to this one !
Oh, man. I am a sucker for Chicago. Peter Cetera's voice is incredible. You'll love You're The Inspiration and Baby What A Big Surprise .

Chicago has sooo many great songs!! Make Me Smile, 25or6to4 ,Beginnings, Saturday In The Park, Feeling Stronger Everyday....these are just a few of their hits!!
Just love when youngins finally hear our music 🎶
Talk about a HUGE rabbit hole of hits! Big ones! Through the 70’s and 80’s eras- 🧡💜👍✌️
They made some great songs. Hard habit to break is another classic, please react to it. 👍
I saw them in concert in Houston ...I was standing in front right under the sax player the entire show...it was a great moment. 1982 Houston...just standing there singing all night 🌙.
Oh my, this song brings back so many memories from when I was in middle school. This boy in my class in elementary school was my “first love”. We knew each other all through school and even now. This song just means so much to me. Wow!

I can't believe it Chicago has been putting out extremely good music since 1969 Try 25 or 6 to 4
All of Chicago is great including all the 80s and under 90s
My fav group Was a young teenager and loved this so much. Please do others there's so many to choose from...
I love the group Chicago,
And he's actually the bass player in the band. I didn't even know it was him on guitar in this song until watching this.
Chicago has so many awesome songs, they had a orchestra too
Love Chicago, went to two of their concerts back in the 70's. One Christmas, all I got was 13 Chicago albums. I was in heaven!

Trina... Great story.😄
Simply the one song that most makes me remember my childhood years. In the background is the percussionist Laudir de Oliveira: a Brazilian pride.
Chicago are a wonderful soft rock band. Your gonna enjoy their music.
They have great songs. You need to show more of them. Much love 💘
The music u guys react to like this is lost in alot of the generation today. So sad. Thank you for keeping it alive!♥️
I grew up during this time and I was never a big Chicago fan. I like a couple of their songs, but it wasn’t until I got older that I could really appreciate Chicago and their music. Now that I’m 52 years old, I get it and Chicago’s an amazing band.
My favorite Chicago song. The line " when tomorrow comes then we'll both regret the words we said today" just kills me. Love your reaction!!!
Peter Cetera did a nice duet with Cher "After All" 🎶🎵
Another Chicago hit that you need to react to is Hard Habit to Break. It is one of their best!
This is the most lovely song I’ve ever heard! Ugh!!!
This is one of my favorite songs this song was the hit back in the seventies and when it first came out I was 15 years I remember writing it down and singing it up to this day 45 years it's still is my favorite💞💞💞🎶🎶
Love of a life time firehouse
Beautiful reaction
Peter Cetera was a great lead vocalist for Chicago. Your The Inspiration is another great song by Chicago with Peter singing the lead.
I was 2yo when this song was released - what can I say? I love it "since"! #staystrong #staysafe and #BLM. Like you guys. =D (btw ... I'm from Germany.)
Fantastic song by a group that fused Rock and Roll, R&B and Pop into an incredibly distinctive sound.
Can't believe I was born two days after the song was released.
Can't go wrong with CHICAGO
Here’s the thing and I’ve learned this from personal experience. If you truly love her don’t EVER take her for granted because, and this is a fact, once she’s made up her mind that she’s done, it’s over brah! Nothing you can say will ever bring her back. Women will put up with a lot from a man, for a time, but once her mind is made up it’s written in stone. Words of wisdom
Tears come ot my eyes when this song come on.
IYLMN was Chicago's first #1 and won the Grammy for Best Song By Pop Group or Duo. P.s. Terry played bass on the song and JW Guercio played the aucoustic.
I know the song since it came out, Chicago is one of my all time favorite bands and I saw once at the Hollywood Bowl, but I never saw this live performance, it was Fab!! Thanks✌👍👌😎
Nice reaction to a beautiful song. One of my favorite all-time slow songs. I get goosebumps every time....including now.lol. Chicago has some amazing ballads, but the have some funk and soul too. Check out "Make Me Smile". Guitarist Terry Kath was called the "white Ray Charles", who was a big influence to Kath. 25 or 6 to 4 is obviously highly requested. Blood, Sweat & Tears is another group you should react to. Lots of funk and soul.
This was one of the rare occasions when their guitarist and baritone singer Terry Kath (r.i.p.) did NOT play guitar on the track. Regular bass player Peter Cetera is on guitar here as well as tenor lead vocals. On the studio recording their producer James William Guercio played guitar and Terry Kath did not perform on the track at all. This was the start of Chicago's descent into softer ballads. Their core foundation was as a rock band with horns, fusing together rock, jazz, blues, funk and soul into an incredible mix. You need to experience their foundation, starting with their 1969 debut album as Chicago Transit Authority. "Introduction", the first track on that double LP was written by and lead vocals sung by guitarist Terry Kath. Also on that album are "Poem 58", a 9 minute song opening up with almost 5 minutes of the funkiest Terry Kath on guitars, Danny Seraphine on drums and Peter Cetera on bass that you will experience. Jimi Hendrix said Chicago's guitar player (Kath) was better than Jimi himself. Other notable tracks on the debut are "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" sang by keyboard player Robert Lamm, "Questions 67 And 68" sung by Cetera, "I'm A Man", a cover of the song by the Spencer Davis Group and sang by all 3 Chicago lead vocalists, "Beginnings" sang by Robert Lamm. Chicago's eponymous second album, after shortening their name from Chicago Transit Authority, features a seven movement suite titled "Ballet For A Girl In Buchannon". Written by trombone player James Pankow, it begins with Terry Kath on "Make Me Smile" and ends with Kath on "Now More Than Ever", which were blended together for the single release of "Make Me Smile as the entire suite runs about 14 minutes. Sandwiched in the middle is Kath on the ballad most frequently played in the early 70's at weddings and proms, "Colour My World". You really need to experience the entire suite in one sitting to appreciate the changes between tempos and the instrumental segments. These were true musicians, premiere artists of their day creating music that nobody had assembled to that point. Also on that album is the remarkable "25 Or 6 To 4". Either the studio version or the live 1970 performance at Tanglewood, will blow you away when you hear (and see at Tanglewood) Terry Kath's mind boggling guitar solo. Chicago and the world lost Terry 44 years ago on January 23, 1978, when he accidentally shot himself in the head fooling around with a 9mm pistol. The world lost an incredible musician and singer, and the band Chicago lost its heart and soul and leader. Peter Cetera and David Foster later on took Chicago down the path of more ballads and de-emphasizing the horn section. There is a monumental difference between "Classic" Chicago and "Ballad" Chicago.

You need to listen to probably one of the best love songs ever written John Denver “Annie’s Song”.
You should react to the lead singers Solo his name is Peter Cetera Glory Of Love
One of my favorite bands growing up.
This is one of my favorites of theirs, also, Hard To Say I'm Sorry
One of the greatest songs ever
AMERICAS FULL OF LOVE NOT HATE . GOD BLESSED AMERICA .
Peter Cetera has one of the greatest and most unique voices in music history. You should check out his solo stuff too.
chicago has been a band continuously since 1968, with lots of personnel changes

The end of the MASSIVE ly bloody Vietnam war caused the music biz to lighten up from the war related songs and love and Romance began be a force in music!
I meant I couldn't believe it, they have been around so much longer than you knew and putting out the best since 1969 with alot of the greatest bands
Show Its hard to say I'm sorry. Much love 💘
Mel love the way you sang it 😆. Beautiful
These guys, since their inception in 1968, write ALL of their own music/and lyrics. For their earliest "love ballad" might want to listen to "Color My World" - utilizing only piano/flute/bass and amazing Terry Kath vocals. It was released as a single off their 2nd album - Chicago II - and was played at probably every HS Prom across the nation.
In 1977 I was 10 and feeeeeelin this music in every way possible. Good times, good vibes all around, you missed out on a great time in America...music was so sos so damn great during this genre. Rock Soul, Disco, Rock, Punk, Glam Rock, I mean from The Bee Gees to Chicago to Bowie, it was an epic romantic and sexy time. I've been asked before if I had a time machine, what year would I go back to, I say 1977 every single time, hands down. No cell phones, Computers, no social media, just. purely being present to what is right in your heart in that moment. Pretty epic! Loved your reaction to a beautiful song...
WRONG! The Sweetest song ever is Colour My World- also by Chicago! Heart melting at its finest...

Due to Terry's soulfulness. Still I might at least give them a tie. The acoustic in this song was excellent.
So real!!! ❤️
Peter Cetera has got such a great voice
Loved this you guys. I know of a few more from them to suggest. "Searchin So Long", "Feelin Stronger Every Day", "25 Or 6 To Four", "Hard To Say I'm Sorry". Much love to you both
This song was so meaningful in my life. Thanks, Shawn and Mel for choosing and reviewing it!
Great reaction. "Saturday in the park" should be next.
