I watched it and just thought they left it that way so you could interpret what happened yourself. Either cook dies or the therapist dies or is taken to jail after being beaten. I loved how gen2 got really dark because thats how it is for some teens but the last 2 episodes were written a bit weird.

Please continue to introduce me to the world of British television. I am from America so all we get from the UK is Doctor Who.

I love skins.1st season I cried my eyes out when chris died. I had a teenage crush on him and related to his family situation. But by season 3 I was like "Okay, stop it." 😂

We had americanized versions of both Skins and The Inbetweeners... neither of which lasted long... Also, you clearly don't have BBC America. You get lots of stuff from the UK on there... or, you did.

Series 4 always confused me, like where was Tony and the dad when Effy was going though that shit?, and why did we end on a dumb cliff hanger?. Series 4 sucked cause it was so fucking depressing for no reason(which isn't bad but skins use to manage dark times and fun times very well). controversial as it would have been having Effy killing herself would have made more sense her storyline had the perfect set up but writers just chose to ignore it for shock value

Tony was in college (but based on their closeness you'd think he'd have come home to help her through it). As for the dad, the mom cheated on their dad and they got divorced and so the dad essentially moved out/left and the mom became a drunk/crybaby laying on the couch all day who didn't care; they kinda all got screwed up after Tony got hit by a bus so it sorta ruined everyone mentally it seemed. I honestly (as messed up as it sounds) would have preferred Effy had done the suicide route cause then that truly would have brought everyone back together seeing as she sort of tore her friends apart a lot with her depression and angst.

I just discovered your channel a couple of days ago and I really appreciate how you take the time to cover irrelevant or obscure stuff, instead of just focusing on the obsession of the week like many other youtubers. Also, thank you for putting this into words. I always thought that gen 2's ending was so jarring and felt like it belonged in a different show. Plus the stupid deaths intro sent me.

I recently rewatched gen 1 of skins and knowing chris dies at the end makes the whole show so much sadder

Freddie death was not the problem, that really bother me of him getting killed off. It was the fact that there, was no big climax or better justice for Freddie. All we got was Cook was lured in Dr. Foster house and Cook ready to fight, then was just freeze then cut after there as the ending finale. With no satisfied injustice outcome as there was no real, build up for that after Freddie being brutally killed off.

And then gen 3 got even worse

@@rodrigoogaz3860 Dude, Grace's Death and Frankie going from being an awkward/androgynous girl to all of a sudden very glam and everyone wants to bang her was so annoying. Only real things I liked were Grace with Richie and Alo with Mini.

The most pointless TV deaths I can think of were all on Lost. Half the deaths on Lost were pointless, but this one absolutely takes the cake.

To be fair, Lost was essentially the passengers lost in limbo, so it made sense that their deaths were stupid/pointless...

Great video, I had forgotten about that part. I remember the weird road trip later on in the show being even more pointless and off. Still one of the most impactful shows I've ever seen though

OMG Freddie’s death was so dumb I just erased it from my memory of the show. I remember Cook dancing to Kylie Minogue but not the plot apex. Anyway, I’m loving your channel. I would enjoy some Peepshow analysis. That show does not get enough love here in the states.

I instantly subscribed to you for this video. I've hated this ending and will go down with that opinion til the day I die despite some diehard Second gen fans swearing it's a great death. In regards to Chris's death, despite knowing it happens, even to this day while re-watching that show I cry like a little baby because it impacted me that much. Freddie's death and Grace's afterwards just pissed me off.

I loved skins. The first 2 series was peak, series 3 was ok. But after that it went serious off the rails. I found it hard to care about the season group. Chris was my favorite by far, I think I cried when we died.

everybody hates on gen 3 but at least their characters actually dealt with the character death lmao

What are you trying to say? That no other generations/gen 1 didn't deal with character deaths? LOL! Did you even see the part in the club with Sid and Tony crying together when Sid's dad died of a broken heart? Or the part when Jal and Michelle both mourned her decision to have an abortion (didn't want to take chances having Chris's kid) as well as Chris together under the sheet? Or the scene where they literally stole Chris's coffin and then had a funeral outside of his funeral (not welcomed by his dad thus couldn't come) so they celebrated his death as he'd have wanted them to: by going out with a bang and releasing fireworks and even while crying Jal gave a speech about Chris's hero and then stayed by his grave long after his funeral to mourn and finally talked to the dad. But, yes... none of the other generations dealt with the character's deaths...

Skins was my toxic high school show. In high school i watched the whole thing and allowed myself at 15 to think it was all normal... so you can imagine how my teenage years went.

I meean.... lots of kids were fucked up in highschool to some degree but to actually think it was all normal is just silly. It didn't affect me in terms of my schooling when I went to school but I experienced and helped lots of people cope with a degree of stuff you'd see in this show: questioning sexuality (me coming to terms with being Asexual plus my other LGBTQ+ friends), bullying (myself and others), homeless and druggie friends and drunk friends and promiscuous friends, etc. It's not wild and crazy as depicted completely... but in some scenes it was close. Being in the floater/weirdo kids clique, I saw this stuff a lot despite being a goody two shoes kid and being sheltered.

@oldladytrexarms I'm gonna expose myself a bit but I had severe depression after years of abuse. I wanted to be effie and find someone who would care for me when my depression would leave me in dissociation. Very unhealthy to want to allow the depression to take you over to have someone prove they love you enough. I also got into substances because "every teen does them" to which I became more traumatized. I enjoyed the series very much but I definitely should have known better.

God DAMN man! HOW have I never heard of these shows?! Most obscure british show I know of is Midsummer Murders, maybe Ms. Phisers murders or something but I'm missing OUT.

Surprised you didn't discover it via the failed American MTV attempt. The Office and Skins and other US versions of shows has shown me lots of great British stuff and other non-British shows. You might also like Skam (several versions of this), Derry Girls, Degrassi, Sex Education, My So-Called Life, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Euphoria, and My Mad Fat Diary if you end up enjoying Skins UK.
