The bit storage is super cool, looks incredibly easy to use and I like the way they color coded the bits too. The big downfall to me though, is being silent... As a fidgeter, a ratchet that doesn't make noise would just be a little sad to me. For that reason, the LTT Screwdriver has to be top of my list because it's SO satisfying to just fidget with - on top of being really good at being a screw driver.

Honestly, it's incredibly satisfying to spin the screwdriver around and around like a fidget spinner actually! You can spin it once and it will do many more turns before stopping than a regular ratchet does. But if the auditory sensation of the ratchet is what makes something satisfying to fidget with for you, then a good ratchet sound is definitely heaven! The LTT screwdriver has great reviews and it is on my list to buy one day!

@@happylittletools Hi, sound also helps to know if you are ratcheting to the right direction when you can't see what you are doing. Also I'd love to see some of testing done like Project Farm did on screwdrivers.

@@Minde11 The silent feature of this ratchet function is actually really useful in one industry I work in - the film industry. But I never considered that the sound of a ratchet could be useful for determining which direction your going in! Thanks for that info. @ProjectFarm is an absolutely incredible channel and I couldn't possibly hope to replicate what they do, nor is that something I wish to do. They have a great concept for their channel that works for them, and I look forward to each of their releases. I tag @ProjectFarm in hopes that they see this and do a test on silent ratcheting screwdrivers for us! Happy Little tools is here to talk about fun tools, while also integrating a positive outlook about life. But some fun things I have coming up in the next few months, I will be trying to do one build video every month, where I either build something interesting to me (and hopefully to others). I have some cool multitool mods planned. I have some cool mods to my current tools planned. Things I am really excited to share. So while I can't give you reviews like @ProjectFarm, hopefully what I offer is unique and interesting enough in its own way!

That bit storage system is really cool! Currently I'm using a mega pro but will have to consider this if I decide to upgrade.

I'm a bit fan of LTT, and ive seriously considered getting their screwdriver. But the sort of proprietary bits drive me nuts! But what they did right is making it easy to order bit sets for pretty much every size you could need. on top of that, making it good for regular bits too. So many manufacturers want to lock you into their system to make more money off of you, and LTT does avoid that mostly. Which is nice.

@@happylittletools You can use whatever 1/4" bits you want in there, although their bits fit a bit better in their bit storage, if you use full sized bits you can't fit as many. I will say the bits they make are very well machined. Comparable the the Wera bits I like best.

  • @happylittletools

@@ZachStein Sorry I should have been more clear with what I meant. I know that you can use 1/4" bits, and can fit full size bits in their handle, which is why i said 'Sort of proprietary', as their stubby 1/4" bits are not exactly proprietary. And they provided an excellent selection for sure! Designing a product is immensely hard, and I don't think many people give small companies the credit they deserve - especially when that company is moving into a new market like LTT did with their screwdriver. I am super excited to see the tools LTT comes out with and I am certain many of them will be great, just like their screwdriver is. I just wish the stubby bits they used would have been regular 1" bits - but they did the stubby's because of a set of design limitations that they self imposed for one reason or another. At least that's the impression I got from watching their videos (i've been a long time LTT fan. I used to work for geek squad and fix computers.)

I'll recommend a screwdriver.. Wiha pocketmax. No ratchet, but it has the spinning end cap like smaller "clock makers" drivers, so it's easy to spin rapidly. There's also a bit storage in the handle, but it's for only 4 bits. Bits are somewhat proprietary 6 mm hex, 70 mm long and insulated, which is nice for an electric work. Handle is at about regular screw diver size, because they didn't go the usual "bigger number sells better" route. End cap bit holder assembly is hold in with a magnet, so theres no plastic clips to broke. Bit slots might eventually loosen, but mine are still tight after over a year of daily use. You actually need some pliers to get them out when new :D (it gets better in use) I got two to replace some regular drivers on my work trouser pocket and got basically 8 more bit options without taking more space or having to settle for less ergonomics etc. It would be nice to be able to get those in several colors. It's now an random chance which bits I found when I open one.. At least it's easy and fast to check.

That screwdriver looks pretty great. I normally don't like proprietary bits. But for insulated screwdrivers, it is pretty difficult to not have proprietary bits! I also like that the non-insulated one seems to use regular bits. I also like the spinning end cap screwdrivers. They feel like ratcheting screwdrivers, without any backdrag. I have been meaning to pickup a screwdriver with a spinning end cap!

@@happylittletools I grew up about 180 miles from the Canadian border, I always loved going on vacation to Canada. I loved going to Niagara Falls with my parents, and in the early 2000s when the Niagara Falls Butterfly Conservatory was new it was probably my most anticipated place to visit. The environment was so well kept you could catch tropical butterflies laying egg clusters on the bottoms of leaves, it was breathtaking! For a long time in the USA it was a joke that Canadians were clean, kind, almost to a fault, but as an adult I see now all that was jealousy. Canada is, in a lot of ways, what the USA would love to be, especially when it comes to respecting and having respect for one another. I hope it's a lesson we can accept from Canada, you guys are terrific and have a lot to share and teach with the world.

Those memories of the butterfly conservatory sound absolutely amazing. Despite living not too far from there, I've never been. Sounds like i should plan a day date trip there! In so many ways, Canada is very much like the USA, since our economies are so closely linked. And that respect for one another seems to be less and less everyday. I think everyone suffers from the 'grass is greener on the other side'!

So you're using the ratchet wrench as a screwdriver and thats working well for you? I would think the large head of the ratchet would get in the way often when accessing certain screws? The observer dual-flex is certainly a super cool tool! I really want to get my hands on one!

I have pretty much every higher end ratchet screwdriver. Wera, Snap-On, 2 PB Swiss, Gearwrench and it's not even close this is my favorite. The zero back drag is so useful. I pretty much stopped using the others. PB Swiss is my biggest disappointment. I really they they are overrated. Tons of back drag.

For sure it is a steep price! I think it has to do with licensing the ratchet mechanism from rolgear, plus being a German tool company, plus import costs makes the price huge for NA users.
