Disagree. Murray averages 6 assists with a 3:1 A/To ratio. This season he had more assists per 36 this season than Steph Curry, SGA, Brunson, Lillard and a bunch of other NBA point guards, and with low turnovers. This is an interesting point. How much money do you think the Nuggets organization lost by not making the conference finals and the NBA finals this year? That’s probably 3 home games each series, plus broadcast revenue. I would guess probably fifty million dollars total, if not more. So they could have spent another $20-30 million to improve the bench and maybe you pay some luxury tax, but it actually would’ve MADE them money.

Nuggets have a 5-7 years window to win championships at best. It all depends on Jokic. If he is healthy and has the energy to play his best, the Nuggets have a chance to win. But, that window might be 3-5 years if he is not. They have already wasted Jokic's 2 prime years, but that was because of the injuries of Jamal and MPJ. This year was wasted because of Calvin Booth with his delusion of being the GM with the greatest eye for talent that anybody has ever seen. With late first and early second-round players, he is building not just a great bench, but also future starters. To me, that is just delusional. Even a talented player needs 3-5 years to be able to play at a high level. Only super-talented players can be good from the year 1 or 2. The problem is that 80% of the draft will take longer or never, and 80% of them at least are picked in the first 15th draft places (I pulled the numbers out of my ass, but I don't think that it is too far from the truth). There is also a third type of rookie. High floor with, a short ceiling, and I think Christian Braun is that type of player. Good from the jump, but he won't get much better. I like how Christian is playing, but I don't see him on a championship starting 5, while I think he can be a good 6th player off the bench. If we believe that this is true more or less, let us also believe that all of the players that Booth picks are sure-fire hits. That means, that once these players are ready to play, they will be eligible for extension, and therefore are not going to be on rookie contracts anymore, so you would have to trade them for new picks, because they will be too expensive to keep them, and the Nuggets will have to go into the second apron. So even if the Nuggets have a 5-7 years championship window, they will most likely waste 3-4 of those years with this stupid strategy. As long as Jokic is one of the 3 best players in the world, you can win, but even then you have to optimize the team around him. I agree that Malone should mix the bench unit with 2 starters instead of 1. Also, Murry and MPJ have to be better than this year, but the big reason for them not being as good as last year is that they are missing Bruce and Jeff off the bench. They need to replace them with other good veterans, and not Pickett and Tyson. You had some young players last year, but you had more veterans that fit the team, and know how to play in the playoffs. I want to see how Booth does with trades and free agency. He made no good trades and had luck with Bruce so far. If Booth continues with this plan, all I can say is that Jokic should be traded sooner then later.

I think the point about construction of the team was based on other cap rules is huge because it forced us to do what we did. Simply put MPJs contract is killing the team.. you can't have a 16 point a game dude making 33 million. At this point you have to get rid of that albatross and free up money. I would do the following, trade MPJ to the Magic, he would fit perfectly. Ask for our 2025 #1 draft pick back and the Magics #1 in 2025, with a caveat. We need ours so we can trade the 2024 #1 because of the Stapien rule. Then do something like our 2024 #1 and the Magic #1 2025 and 1 second rounder and Zeke Nnaji to the Pelicans for Herb Jones, a top 3 3 and D wing. Then next year trade on draft day our 2025 draft pick back to the Magic so they basically get MPJ for 1 #1. Then you free up 33 million to resign KCP and extend Gordon, and you have a stopper in Jones is 3 years at $11 million. Then you have the money to get other free agents because you are way below the 2nd apron.

I agree that both KCP and Gordon should be kept, as they are perfectly fit to jokic. And trading MPJ. But i dont agree on getting Herbs. Not because he isnt good or they're not willing to trade him. But because its the reason why they have watson off the bench. The only problem with watson is he cant score. Bad shot taker and perimeter scoring is missing. Deni avdija is the best guy they could get for MPJ position. He has versatile player like Gordon. Good at transition, good cutter, passing, have length and height and can also knock down 3s.

Interesting logic from Nuggets, working mid-long term while they have a generational talent NOW for another 3-4 years. Dallas has Luka and they've done everything to support him, Kyrie, Brunson, Porzingis. Let's not go to what Boston has done to support their star. Nuggets didn't make any effort to bring one single AllStar caliber player to support a three times MVP. I really hope Jokic leaves soon to a franchise that will appreciate him.

  • @ouicertes9764

My guy Pozingis was a hurried bad decision from the Mavs, they gutted their team, depleted their assets, for a guy that was injured and could never stay long on the floor when in Dallas. They still owe picks to New York. And in hindsight the fit was so bad, KP wasn't a "real" big, and he came as an All Star to a team with a rookie Luka, expecting to be n1. We see now he's much better as a 3rd option. Brunson only got good once he got minutes because KP was traded. Last year Luka n2 option was Christian Wood, and people wonder why his usage rate and minutes were so high. The Mavs only started to get serious about team construction after they traded for Kyrie, last february.

As organization Denver tried to be slow with moving players, also Malone does not play rookies even if veterans played trashed. Malone tried DJ in this play-off, but he did not try Zeke for 3rd consecutive play off, Barton when he left Denver he did not stayed in one team more then few months, and he is not even so old. Why he did not traded him after awful play-off 2019-20. When you have some guys in market what you like them you should trade for them. Murray was just last year ready in play-off from last 4 years it is better to trade him for someone who would be available every year. Hunter Tyson played very good in summer league, Malone did not give him chance. If young guy is injured Malone sometimes just kick him out of rotation if veteran is out he give him chance after chance. How he can not organized any attack for 2nd unit, outside give Bounce or Murray ball and let them shoot bad shot after bad shot.

I think some of the comments about how the TWolves looked or what they did in this most recent Mavs game are a bit off base in that key guys on the TWolves were very tired from coming off a 7 game series against the Nuggets. I don’t think Edwards was worn out in one quarter of playing hard. 3/4 of his shots for the game were threes, and that’s partly a reflection that he was tired from minute 1.

Booth's vision and Malone's goal is also not aligned with how the Nuggets play games sometimes. Jokic seems to like to maintain 10-12pt leads and sometimes that's not enough to secure leads and minutes to play a deeper roster. This team really needs to learn to put their foot down opponents' necks harder, not immediately coast when there's a "good lead" and then have to scramble late and push hard just to win games. Stop being the best "clutch" team in the league, just close games before it even gets to clutch time.

DLine is slow. It didn't work. And not trying other line ups or giving more minutes in the season meant there was no chance it would. Maybe it still doesn't work in the playoffs anyway, that's fair, but they gave it no chance to work at all reducing their possible options. You always want more options than less. Edit: And presuming the Nuggets would just walk to the title if they beat Minnesota is absurd. They struggled against the Lakers and got completely blown off the court several times by the Wolves. Maybe they do win but it was hardly anything like a guarantee with their form.

if blame pie was to be divvied out for this season or the way it ended then i think jamal takes a very large portion, mpj maybe it a bit less than jamal, booth on the same level as mpj, and the kroenkes right there with booth. i know the suns owner didnt construct his roster correctly but that level of aggressiveness and disregard for the luxury tax is what i wish we could see from the kroenkes.

i like the kind of players calvin targets but his idea that we need a pipeline of young guys only works if you are basically a 90 percent hitter on your draft picks which is almost impossible to do. championship winning teams need vets, like i imagine calvin thinks replacing kcp with CB is gonna turn out okay and if thats the case then the teams is gonna take an even further step back than they did this past season. adam you also said he was correct about there being only two ways to win with the new restrictive CBA, i disagree i think there's 3, the first two that booth said are correct but the third is having an owner who doesnt give a shit about the luxury tax at all like the warriors owner during their run, like the clippers current owner, like the suns owner, like the celtics owner, kroenke needs to step his shit up and be willing to pay a ton of money because the competition at the top of the league most of the time isnt gonna be as cheap as the kroenkes. its also funny to me that calvin is so married to his young guys idea when the trades that won us the chip were to get kcp, aaron gordon, jeff green, and bruce brown in here.

Jokic does have flaws, he can't create space for himself if he can't push players around. Bad coaching and game management. Ball Handlers. This is exactly the problem. Even Murray isn't a great ball handler. Reggie Jackson and Murray both are more like shooting guards than point guards, and Murray especially dribbles too much and doesn't move enough off-the-ball so he can't wear out his defender. AG is almost as good as Murray at bringing the ball up, and Jokic is better than all of them. That's a problem.

In pvp multiplayer games, there’s this cowardest thing to do called counter picking, where you pick a team of characters specifically to counter enemy team’s characters, by doing this any skill diff can be ignored because they are not outskilling opponents but simply countering them, eg. playing a sniper into melee characters, I think Wolves are doing the same, they are cowards, and I hope they get punished by other teams that counter them and never win a championship in another 30+ years

Highly doubt KCP comes back. Take a hometown discount? Why should he? I wouldn’t either. If the Spurs offer a bag, take it & run. From the presser today, one can’t really conclude they won’t trade MPJ. I saw comments alluding to as much, and that’s a majorly flawed assessment. In fact, if you were indeed open to offers on him, you’d be ambiguous & have your coach talk him up publicly. Something to think about. I still believe they gotta sell while his value is still overall high. If Mike made 10 mil a yr, I’d say keep him. But dude makes 34 mil next season 🤯 give me a break, you didn’t that appropriate value for him the last two years. I just don’t get you fans who think he’s irreplaceable. The team needs to be upgraded. I for one hope they can get better pieces this offseason instead of the Reggies & DJs & Holidays of the world. It takes ammo & pieces to do that. Be realistic.
