Hope yall enjoyed this one ❤‍🔥Make sure to vote! www.tracklib.com/awards 🤜🤛 Just to be clear: the criteria for this category in our Sampling Awards is as much about being inventive with WHERE you've sourced your sample from, secondly if you implemented it in a creative way, and lastly the impact of the track.

i love peggy's penchant for oddball samples, thats not even to get into how he sampled the videos he got the sounds from. that'd be my pick. its not just a straight forward bar loop, and at one point he makes the sampled scream longer by reversing it, and then playing it forward to march along with thr beat. neither of these are uncommon sample techniques, but in conjunction with how fucking weird the sample choices are, it makes for such a surprisingly grimy beat that sounds like your being taunted by gradeschoolers. i do like that one of these samples comes from an indie game, shout outs to ittledew, crazy that its in a fucking beyonce song of all things. but it is just a video game sample, which in this landscape shows how much video game samples have come in terms of sampling same for monty python. while not as niche, it is an uncommon choice of sampling. but its in the genre of like. barbershop quartets, so it aint that crazy.

I mean Peggy has always been one of his own kind when it comes to producing and sampling. It's so recognizable and unique to the point where I kinda expect him to push the envelope and do something so wacky and unorthodox yet catchy beat here and there. What actually surprised me the most is the fact Travis singlehandedly sampled an indie game sound effect and turned it into a dancehall renaissance-esque song. It's really impressive ngl.

Basically the samples are more interesting because instead of conforming, predictable, outside the box, and easy to hear, he intentional sought out materials that the average music listener hasn’t heard resulting in more a melodically and harmonically complex products and that will grabs your ears attention. Sometimes that’s unpleasant to listeners because of the dischord or simply because it’s different or bc it provokes feelings/thoughts that they are unfamiliar or experienced with feeling uncomfortable or awkward because it’s so different. That’s okay because some people like predictable or music that doesn’t challenge how they think listening to music should make them feel and that can be too unsettling or uncomfortable for some fans.
