The Most Important Preflop Exploit You're Not Making

Ойындар

What do millions of hands tell us about our opponent's preflop play? It's face-up and extremely easy to exploit!
THIS IS BY FAR the most important pre-flop adjustment you need to make because it comes up over and over, and making it saves you huge heartbreak and adds tremendously to your winrate.
Enjoy!

    So do we 3bet more such opens? I saw other of your videos where you 3bet hands like K8s vs 3x opens. Also, in one of your videos, one of your students had higher 3bet 2x opens than 3x opens, and you said that you would rather over 3bet vs 3x opens than 2x opens.

    As a reg that plays 100 and 200nl on ignition this is exactly what I have suspected for a long time and you have data to quantify my theory. I think a few interesting things to note : When 3.5x opens utg and AA is less represented it's a rec 'pot' opening and likely then also limping exactly AA (lol). - There are for sure a large number of shit regs that open 2x to 2.5x from all positions then also open 3x with the nutted part of their range. Assuming no one will notice (sorry people do). I have another very strong suspicion, could you post data on or do a video on : PREFLOP 3B SIZING TELLS IP. RFI 2.2-2.5x open and being 3b to ; 7x, 7.5x, 8x and 9x+ I strongly suspect there is a correlation of regs that bluff way more in the 7x node and way way less in the 9x node vs a 2.5x for example.

    @@derekluna7700 I think my comment got deleted because I posted a link to my stats. Correlation is not causation. Even if I have my suspicions, making large deviations without quantifiable evidence can leave me open to other regs exploiting this pool trend. Secondly, deviating is also a question of do I 4b more often vs call more and how much do I need to factor in the times I'm wrong playing in an incognito pool because a clever reg is counter exploiting the pool. Suffice, to say I grinded from 25nl to 200nl and am above and ev8bb/100 winrate, closing in on 200k hands. Your attitude of dismissing and putting down what you don't understand is prevalent everywhere in microstakes and in the lowest achievers in every profession in life. Before throwing shade on others, take a seat, be humble and you might learn something.

    @@derekluna7700 Last response from me. If you're strategy to progress is to literally try and grind 400k hands a month (I've never seen or heard of this even in extreme hh per month challenges) you're doing it wrong from a developmental perspective. You're freely admitting now, that despite now likely having played several million hands over the last few months you've been unable to progress or move up from microstakes. Meaning your winrate is close to 0 or below and you've learned very little during this period. Best of luck in your strategy. Peace

    Hmmm, interesting, but on my sites almost nobody ever goes higher than 3x. And typically they have one consistent raise size, meaning they will raise 3x in any position with any raising hand.

    I comment this video earlier and I thanked you for the info I also read all the other BS comments let it be there loss...but I have question please direct if you will I really not sure if the 10x by GTO is the 3bet for both vs UTG or the BTN what I am looking for is the best 3bet x vs 2.5x obviously vs BTN and 2.5x vs EP players your thought would be greatly appreciated i have reviewed video numerous times and the BET sizing column confuses me example 1:16time 2.5bb arrow to 4.1 im just not understanding the 4.1 is the raise amount or 4.1x the ?>

    Intuitively this makes sense. How bad is it to call 99 or better facing the 4 bet? I may be missing it in your explanation but I’m only understanding when you are suggesting re-raising. Thanks Alvin, much appreciated.

    It really depends on villain/ pool. Against aggro players you have to go to war. Against weaker players you can really nit it up!

  • @jeffshackleford3152

    @jeffshackleford3152

    @@AlvinTeachesPokerIf I am understanding correctly. We can go to war with aggro players because they RFI and 3 bet wider ranges. Weak players will likely have a more concentrated value range like the 3.00 BB RFI green and pink chart ( not sure what it is called)? Therefore 3 bet looser ranges against aggro players and 3 bet tighter ranges against weaker players.

    Another reason for folding instead of calling marginal EV hands in fast poker is that you actually increase your hourly but slightly reduce your bb/100, because although you lose small amount of bb/100 you will get more hands per hour which will compensate your bb/100 loss.

    @@AlvinTeachesPoker That is true, but use those marginally winning hands for raising pre, or 3-betting because many times you will win preflop so you don't lose on your hourly. But you should not call with hands that are marginal calls because you will lose time (seeing the flop, waiting for other players etc). It is better to move quickly to play other hands and raise and win preflop.

    I'm not sure if this contains a lot of useful information you couldn't get otherwise. I strongly suspect that for this type of player there is a correlation between position and betsize. Old school players raise bigger in early position when their range is tight and smaller in later position when their range is wider. This was the meta before the invention of solvers. So that's not new information, it just could tell you that this is an old school player who is not using a solver but is aware of position and doesn't know the meta has changed. So really this could be more about the dependence of ranges from position than from betsize but that is nothing special. If you would have checked if this behavior was independent of position, then it could be an excellent read because then you found that the opponent splits his range among different betsizes in a predictable manner within the same position. That would be useful. If there is a dependence on position the "exploit" reduces to wider steal ranges are more easy to attack than tighter ranges from non steal ranges and that is just conventional wisdom.
