I worked for John Lewis in the tv department in 1999 where they had a 42” (Phillips?) plasma including stand for £7,500: The stand on its own was £750. It didn’t even meet the 576i UK pal standard let alone be HD but was 480p iirc. I don’t ever remember anyone buying one but it was impressive nonetheless with Toy Story on dvd. I had a 14” 4:3 crt at the time but later upgraded to a 21”. 😆 It wasn’t until 2008 when I finally bought a 1080p Pioneer LX5090 plasma. Cost £2,250 with stand, under mounted speaker & 5yr warranty. Had waited patiently for 1080p spec with 24fps and the price to fall from £5,000. Was one of the best purchases I ever made with no regrets and it still gets used to this day more than 12yrs later. Apart from the plasma hum you can hear no and again and that it runs bloody hot I’ve had no issues, no screen burn etc. Everyone thought I was a bit mad getting such a large tv, (50”), and yet today this size as almost become the norm. Mum thought it was a bit ‘chavvy’ after she read an article in the newspaper!?

I just bought a 50" onn smart tv for $223, and I'm still stunned by how big it is, how great the picture is, and how many streaming apps there are. I'd have gone 58" or 65" but the wall space in my living room doesn't allow for a bigger tv without popping over the border, so 50" inch is plenty. Years ago I bought a 46" and paid extra to have Netflix built in, it was about $650, so you can get so much more tv for the money today it's not even funny. Getting ready to add a surround sound unit with a sub woofer and five satellite speakers for about $42 which has solid reviews. So for $245 I'm the King of my castle, Lord of the manor, Master of all I see before me, it may not be elite, but it's not bad for the money.

The Samsung 8k TV has the mechanics to show you 8k but with 10/100 NIC and only 2 GB of RAM you are in for constant buffering and really bad resolution every 3 minutes on average. There are brief moments where you have 4K but most of the time is spent trying to process the immense data that 8K requires.

To be fair, if you could afford these, you could afford to buy one from a scalper

Hi Caleb,I want to buy a new 80+inch LED TV in a few months, but I'm clueless. I am thinking of these: Samsung 4K Q80T,Q90T 8K Q800T and Sony X900h obsession X950h. I'm not a gamer, but it is important to support new gaming features for the future I prefer to watch a movie and my Pc would also be connected to it,and the reflection and viewing angles is important for me. For me 8k would be the winner because only he could play my new Gopro 5k videos in shopping center and my graphic card support 8k resolution, but based on tests, 4k is a better choice in this year, but I can't wait any longer because I've been waiting for the right one for more than 1 year,I will keep it for several years. A lot will depend on the price, but I want to hear your opinion too. Thanks for the help, greetings from Hungary,Europe

If there just was some kind of tool that could project images of varying sizes onto a wall without having to piece together LCD screens. For as little as 30k $

At 3:06 you say the 77” is “around” $20,000, then say the 88 is double that at $30,000..... Nice math skills 😂

If a micro led display is 300” is it really micro led? Isn’t it just mini led? I want a 77” or 85” Micro LED TV.
