Maybe a cool video idea would be to show tourists coming to Dublin your favourite pubs where you can really party / have a great time. Dont get me wrong, I totally understand any criticism of the Temple Bar, but when I fly to Dublin with three mates and we arrive at lunchtime we want to have a great time :D. Having a few pints in Mulligans or Bowes is certainly on the agenda, but in pubs without music and with an older crowd, the fun factor takes a back seat. Temple Bar is where I used to go in my 20s I remember in 1995 it was £2.45 for the the bottles of beer(330ml) in Buskers, and Guinness was a little cheaper. Oh, and Temple Bar area gets its name from Temple Barre, and old French word for market or gathering place. And the pub named itself after the area.

Maybe you should revisit on a Saturday at different times of the evening.

Didn’t go there myself, what I can say is that a pint of Guinness is around €6 -€8 everywhere else in around temple bar I went unless I was out the city centre it went to €5.50 I have also realised for myself personally. That a pint can vary in quality not by much when you find a decent place pouring it regularly. But it definitely for me can vary a little. I went Bowes which was great but my favourite place for a Guinness was the old storehouse.

This is 100% why The Temple Bar (The pub not the place) is always rammed full of tourists but with no locals. I live in London but have an Irish family & when they come here they don’t give a shit about going to central London & paying £8 a pint whereas they’d never do the same in central Dublin. Doyles on college street has a good pint of Guinness
NINE QUID, my god. Thankfully I only looked at this pub from the outside and, thanks to your previous videos, didn't bother getting a pint from here. Loved the video lad.
Been there - didn't enjoy that area for going to the pubs there. Toner's and The Liberty Belle were my favorite spots that I had the enjoyment of drinking at!
Fab content! Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴
I get it. It's like going to New Orleans and just doing Bourbon Street. The locals wouldn't be caught dead, but if you're a tourist, you aren't going to miss it.
Nice change of content seems much more refreshed.
I haven't been able to drink Stout since a bad hangover in 2016. Your channel is making me want to drink Guinness again.
love these honest reviews! more people need to be like this instead of trying to find the good
I loved the Palace bar.
I think big groups of tourists struggle to get into many of the late night spots outside of temple bar area. A lot of British tourists see it as a strip like on spanish resorts.
Temple Bar area has been like that for 20 years. The best place in temple bar was (maybe still there) is a sit in kebab place in the area. And up behind the central bank there was a quality wee pub called The Foggy Dew. Been a long time.
Palace Bar is my favorite
What about that Arlington hotel just over the halfpenny bridge? We had a great night in there.
You see on Facebook people put up picture of a receipt from temple bar especially later on in the night and the price is shocking. It's about time that place was named and shamed, it's ridiculous how bad it Is.
Love Dublin but this year we were priced out visiting due to the price of the hotels, we went to Belfast instead fantastic City but the Guinness was better in Dublin! Loads of better pubs than the temple bar tho!!

Aye, I started doing Belfast in 2016. Much cheaper and wider availability of Airbnbs. The "no trackkies" policy of some pubs was an absolute ballache though.
Hey Darragh,my memories of The Temple Bar pub in Temple Bar was of the regular price hikes over the evening. So say 8 Euro in the afternoon, 9 Euro after 5pm, 11 Euro after 7 pm and who knows after that. ypor review did not account for the time of day. Maybe you should revisit on a Saturday at different times of the evening.
It's mad the price of a pint is almost €9 in the south. Here in the north you're paying £4 - 5.50 max
4:23 the irony of this statement is palpable 😂😂😂😅
Didn’t go there myself, what I can say is that a pint of Guinness is around €6 -€8 everywhere else in around temple bar I went unless I was out the city centre it went to €5.50 I have also realised for myself personally. That a pint can vary in quality not by much when you find a decent place pouring it regularly. But it definitely for me can vary a little. I went Bowes which was great but my favourite place for a Guinness was the old storehouse.
When I visit family in Dublin don't go out drinking, far too expensive. Good video Daragh.
Great to see the Guinness Guru is back
Price of a pint is shocking anywhere in Dublin. I paid €6.80 for a pint of Coors yesterday ffs
Didn’t bother my first trip to Ireland. Walked right past it my second trip and went to Bowes and Mulligans!
Fair play to Noel he's working there and don't touch alcohol. Nice guy
Guiness in Bowes is way better and cheaper at 5.90.👍
It's funny. I was in Dublin a lot up to the start of the summer and a few times I was up for a sneaky pint before I'd get the bus home, but I never knew which place to try. Mulligan's is literally around corner from where I'd get my bus, but I never ventured down Poolbeg St, really.

You might have been looking at Chaplins whilst waiting for the bus! Which has a good pint too!
i got a few pints in the temple bar few years ago they were feckin lovely
Hey Daragh, like this style of vid that you've done. As for the daft bint who likes getting ripped off, I've got a few Orion video players in the loft for sale 😂. Worked over in Dubs during the mid to late 90s, and all the Irish lads told me to avoid Temple Bar as it's overhyped and pricey. Looks like things don't change much. Plenty of suckers ready to part with their readies.
Can you make a video in Waterford and try and find out what makes a Blaa different to any other bread roll? This baffles me but you are the man to uncover the truth
Come to Longford😉
Honest advice, thank you
totally agree
Its videos like this that help us tourists save the money we work so hard to earn. 8 euro 95 for a pint is silly money. I would say they are taking advantage, especially with it being so busy there.
This is fantastic content!
Yes, like the refreshed content! 🇮🇪 🇺🇸
I actually went last Saturday night, it was rammed, we waited 10 mins to be served and got one of the worst pints of guinness I've ever seen for €9
I go every year, love it
Oh Carol! You're selling trinkets to tourists too! 🙂
Another excellent video 👍👍👍👍
Why is there a fishing tackle shop in the middle of a busy rourist area? I chuckle everytime i see it.
Love the new style
This is 100% why The Temple Bar (The pub not the place) is always rammed full of tourists but with no locals. I live in London but have an Irish family & when they come here they don’t give a shit about going to central London & paying £8 a pint whereas they’d never do the same in central Dublin. I guess people’s attitudes are just different when they’re on holiday.
Just the feeling of being ripped off sticks in my mind and i find it unbearable. So thats £7.87 for me, would have one and go somewhere else. Enjoyed Guinness Guru channel glad your expanding and doing more content.
Great video😊
Temple is such a fun place for a night. Definitely worth it as a "tourist."
How to order a pint of Guinness? Just say a pint? Guinness? What do
Respect for this video .Im a Dubliner and I can tell you Temple bar is a horrible tourist trap . Very expensive and also it's about 15 years out of date by comparison to the rest of Dublin . South William street is the mecca in my opinion .
9 quid is a fair shout...as long as you get a free telly with it...UTFT:)
Around Dingle I payed €5-5.50 for a pint of guiness. Only the Irish coffee somewhere at the ring of Kerry got me, I payed €7.5 for it lol
temple bar is a tourist trap
I went to a couple of pubs here in Perth, West Australia and got a pint of 'White Rabbit' dark ale, $13 a pint, which is about 9 euro geez, just geez
Worth walking through, there's some good live music spots but vastly better and cheaper pubs and restaurants within walking distance.
Was in Dublin last year absolutely loved the Guinness in the temple bar but I’m certainly no guru, was expensive but one off didn’t mind although I would definitely check out those other pubs when I’m next in Dublin. Cheers 🍻
Over the summer was in Doyle’s pub and spent €7.10 on a pint of Heineken
Go to the long hall, best pints of porter in Dublin.
i would say this it might not be the best guinness in dublin but it alot better than what we get in england
Every time ive been to dublin ive been to the palace bar
From Dublins Liberties the last time I drank there and the area was 35yrs ago. I wouldn't be found dead in it. They're only short of charging you for a piss. Give me Noctors any time.
Just came back from 10 days in Ireland. We walked by the Temple bar and took a picture. We drank elsewhere. I did go to gravediggers the night before I left but I spent most of the trip in Galway and Donegal. Guinness does not travel well. It’s not the same in the states or most of Europe.
The Hairy Lemon was my favourite place in Dublin for a Guinness
