The Most Dangerous Laser Pointer I Have Ever Owned

Ғылым және технология

This could be Wish's most dangerous product. I love lasers! So when I came across a purple/blue burning laser that resembled a Wicked Laser for a fraction of the price, I couldn't resist. I tell you friends, this laser pointer is so powerful, I am second guessing my decision of buying it. Not click-baiting here. This is a class 4 laser. It can mess you up.

Imagine using a laser this powerful for presentations, people would get eye damage. The worst this Is that this doesn't include safety glasses, you really have to treat these like weapons.

I have one of these and was just wondering if it depends how far away I am from the item I'm trying to burn. I tried burning a piece of paper that was in my hand and it started smoking, but there was no flame. It was burning regardless though. If it helps, it's 450 nm

  • @Murdic3k

Hey Tom! Thanks for watching and that's a great question. The beam does spread at greater distances. It really doesn't focus down very much. Thank you! Great question. The furthest I've tested the burning range is about two meters. Dark Balloons pop easy at two meters. A match will ignite at a meter. I was legitimately considering a lighter version of this as a daily carry, particularly in case of an active shooter situation. Definitely look at your laws before considering this as home protection. Things like booby traps are illegal. Certain things used in defense will add a lot of headache at the very least. And also consider that this is not a great thing to have around ready to fire up at a moments notice. We get lax and people get curious. You may never have guests or may never let people into your room, but five years down the road you may. You forgot about it. Someone sees what looks like a flashlight and clicks it on unsuspectingly.

Great question. It fluctuates. When I bought it, I paid around $47. I believe this product actually violates some trade agreement related to high powered lasers (the reason the wattage is stated as under 1000 mw). Buyer beware! Quality control is horrible. Fortunately, most of the issues are with the rechargeable batteries. I have edited the description to give the latest working link. There is a $5 discount code in the description too.

Anything over 2 watts I wouldn’t even use indoors unless you have something to shine it on as a barrier that it can’t go through like a big rock or tile or something and of course with glasses on due to the brightness there will be and because of starting a accidentally fire. Under two watts you can be okay as long as your careful and not holding it at the wall at one spot for any given amount of time and also if you have a barrier which don’t hurt. Under 2 watts you can technically be okay without glasses if your super careful and only shine it on dark things that are mostly black that absorb most of the light but it’s very risky, light colored objects will still be super bright and could cause long term damage overtime, and if you hit something reflective it’s over for your eyes. And ofcourse don’t even shine it and anything living or aircraft’s or other peoples houses as it could hurt someone and get you a felony. Just looking out for y’all.

Came with 5 different caps to change on it for I think different design patterns for a laser light show, etc. No directions, safety manual, etc. The ad says it can be used for your animals to chase the beam, fun with friends light show, etc. Didn't know about the dangers of this laser when I bought it! Don't know what strength of protective glasses to buy if I keep it and don't send it back!? Have not used it, or turned it on yet! Am afraid to now after reading some of these comments! Is it safe to point it straight up in the night sky, without protective glasses without blinding you, or anyone else, if you are behind the beam when pointing it in the night sky and seeing the beam go out, and straight up in the sky!? I do Not want to hurt anybody, myself, or animals, etc., if someone like a neighbor or someone happens to look over and sees the beam that's going up into the sky, but not actually seeing the laser light beam coming from the laser beams tip itself, or pointing it at any reflective surface that could reflect back at anyone, or animals, but pointed directly straight up in the night sky!?

50000mW is 50W... Do you know how powerful that is?? You don't even need to look at the dot at the end of the beam to get blinded forever. Probably a scam anyway. How much did it cost? The best way to test this is to put a green laser in the freezer, then take it out after a while. You won't be able to see any light coming out, because there's only infrared radiation. Also, you're kind of right, I should wear them, but the thing is that the IR being emitted is not very powerful, and won't secretly destroy your eyesight over time.
