She is tenacious!.. I cannot believe that I missed the Pat Riley appearance. Someone even said his name, and it just didn't register. My Columbo DVDs don't have a commentary track from cast or crew. She should definitely do feature length commentary. Either on future DVDs or an audio version on YT. YT allows that. Too many feature length commentators on YT clown around too much, or they don't stay focused, and comment on what they're watching as they're watching it. If a feature length commentary is done well, it's like watching a movie or tv show for the first time, because you're viewing it from somebody else's perspective. This Watch It For Days gal would be excellent for this. Not only for Columbo, but other tv shows and movies. Her very first feature length DVD audio commentary should be for the first Alien movie, 1979! While watching it in the dark. Or, even better. She should only do audio commentaries for tv shows or movies that she has not seen before. To get her first time reaction. What if she had never seen the first Alien movie?!. Her commentary would be terrifyingly insightful. We would see her move from the couch to the back of the room, or at minimum, I bet she would turn the lights back on for the last 30 minutes of the movie. She has her foot in the door on YT, big time. She should take advantage of that, and diversify a little. She could kick the door wide open. A lot of scary movie commentators make the mistake of leaving the lights on in the room the whole time. It's ruined right from the start. I really like this girl, and so do a lot of other people. It would just be cool to hear her scream once in a while. That's all I'm saying. Not a fake scream, but a genuine involuntary scream. Because normally, she's so calm, cool and controlled. I'm not trying to be mean here, and I respect her. I do. I just have a developed sense of humor, that's all. I mean, this is KZread, you know? Yes, she wants to keep it classy, and I appreciate that. Really. But not ALL the time. Come on, let's have some fun! KZread is not supposed to be a library, after all.
Holy crap! This is almost as long as the episode itself! I love deep dives like this

I've just finished listening to all the columbo videos you've produced and I wanted to say thank you, they a refreshing and engaging change from most KZread fare, and I look forward to more. I love that you share a similar sensibility to columbo as I do, which is more than just enjoying it as a crime show, but as a window into a time when cars had character, technology was less all pervasive and language seemed richer, amongst other things. A time I dimly remember and sorely miss. Thanks again.

Val Avery (the character Ralph Dobbs) was also in the episode _A Friend in Deed_ , which arguably has the best suprise ending of all the Columbo episodes. Dean Stockwell was also in 1947's "Gentleman's Agreement", a film he said he didn't like doing because there was a crying scene, and also played the traitorous Doctor Yueh in David Lynch's cult classic movie "Dune" 37 years later, yet another movie with a crying scene for him to play. lol Oh! And Falk repeated the "shoes" joke when he appeared in character at Dean Martin's roast of Frank Sinatra when at the beginning of his bit he looked at Dean's feet and said, "Those shoes, they're not rented are they?" lol

It wasn't just the clock. There was the chlorine water and the the ice cream van and the poor woman with PTSD from not having her ice cream. You can image detectives doing the additional legwork now that Columbo has solved it. Apparently parents tell kids that ice cream vans play music when they run out of ice cream to keep everyone smiling. And he wasn't playing the music. The 'clock was out of order' defense doesn't work because Columbo did hear it a couple hours after the call. The defense would have had to find a clock repairman that delivers on Sunday. If only the director had instructed Columbo to glance at his watch as the clock chimed, they would've established that Columbo was conscious of the chime and that the clock was set properly killing two nits with one glance. Love these videos and Shonna's voice.
Fantastic work, as always. Each episode you do, you somehow get better, even though you seemed to be perfect before. Subscribing to your channel is the best streaming investment there is. Great job as always and def extra stars for giving backgrounds on the NBA Players in the basketball scene. I followed these guys and was hoping you would do that!

The purpose of the alternate name scene at 47:44 calls back to a subtle mention/clue about her real identity that is VERY briefly mentioned , you actually include it at 26:28 . Probably the most subtle clue in the entire show.

When I saw how long this video was, my heart leaped for joy. I love your reviews so much. But I also would have added that Dean Stockwell was in the Song of The Thin Man. I only mention this because I love the Thin Man series. Can't wait till your next review!

Connect with the word clock 🤣 That line is funny to me every single time. I know you had to rework this one quite a bit but it's great as always.

I love when you point out props and locations that we have seen or will see again. I stopped at around the 24:20 mark to write this comment, so forgive me if you address this one later. Many of the flower arrangements show up in Dagger of the Mind in the theater where Sir Roger is being honored. The huge circular red and gold one is particularly noticeable in both episodes. Thanks for such great, fun videos that help me to escape the madness of everyday life and wind down at the end of the day.

I'm so happy you enjoy the videos. Thank you for sharing that reference! I didn't mention it in this video because I typically keep future episode references a mystery until we get there and then say things like "Remember this-or-that from a previous episode?" But I am always grateful for comments like yours ❤️
Thanks for taking the time to make this video

Thank you WIFD! Always delighted to see your name pop up on my notices. I greatly appreciate the depth and range of detail with which you fill the Columbo palette. It brings such a satisfying richness as you retell these splendid stories. I love all the episodes with Robert Culp, especially with that SWINGIN' stash! Enjoy another cup on me... btw - i'm pretty sure Peggy Mondo smoked Metropolitans.

Re Dean Jagger -- right around this time, early 1970s, he did a beautiful cameo in the film "Vanishing Point" that is a definitive portrait of a desert rat. The movie stars Barry Newman and a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T with a 440 four-barrel and an A-833 4-speed pistol grip transmission. Jagger is on the screen for about two minutes in the company of nine snakes. The scene is here on KZread

(BTW, at 29:47 of this "Columbo," at the airport, when we see the wall of phone booths on the left, on the right is a wall of lockers of the kind airports and bus stations used to have, you'd put in a quarter and stash your stuff there while you traipsed over to a nearby restaurant. These lockers vanished in the 1980s in the U.S. due to bomb scares.)
One of my favorite episodes. I especially love the music score accompanying with the plot. It's easy to suspend my disbelief at the ending because Culp's reaction to the clock chimes was so awesome.
