I’m a Ronaldo fan but Ribéry was the best in 2013 I like to look at stats and titles who overall was better and honestly then as a Ronaldo fan I just can’t see how it’s fair Ronaldo not won in 2018 but then Messi can win 2019 or 2023 (not crying about it I think Messi is one of the all time great wish Ronaldo) the ballon dor system I just don’t get it sometimes also wish Ronaldo and not only Messi:)

The "Henry should have won the Ballon d'Or in 2003-2004" is a clear case of "presentism" and recency bias, especially since fans ONLY use goal contributions to explain how he was better than Nedved and Shevchenko. Nowadays, after the Messi and Ronaldo era, fans act as if goal contributions are everything that matters when determining how good a player is (which is unfair for defenders and goalkeepers), but it wasn't a case 20 years ago. Look at 2002: Ronaldo had so little goal contriibutions that fans would feel like he only turned up at the World Cup, that's it. However, very few people would have argued about the decision of awarding him the Ballon d'Or.

Thierry Henry and Ronaldinho are by far my favorite living football legends, they are the reason I fell in love with football in the first place, they are part of my childhood... Henry should have won at least one or two ballon d'or in the 2003 and 2004 seasons, he was so unique and underrated back then, he was almost unstoppable and genuinely a very good all-rounder authentic player. ☯️✌️

2002 ronaldo scored 8 goals(no penalty) in world cup and won the title, which was a big deal. The "excel football watchers" are barely messi fans because messi is so good and everything in terms of football, the only thing CR7 can compare with him is the goal stats so they(fans and medias) made up this stupid comparison to keep debating. If messi haven less stats lets say cut his goals and assists by half, he is still better than CR7.

Not mentioning Griezmanns 2016 is a disgrace. He was one penalty shootout away from winning Ballon Dor, in a peak Messi-Ronaldo era when they were both still in their prime years. If he won UCL that season he wouldve 100% won it that year. Carried Atletico to the UCL final, carried France to the Euro final. Definition of underrated.

The idea that Henry should have won the ballon d'or instead of Nedved is quite a new one and only really prevelent in english media. I remember in 2003, when Nedved got it, no one saw it as a robbery, as he was just that good. Great Video btw

@@philtarpehdixon7441 To each his own I guess. I think Henry wouldn't have been an undeserving winner, he had a great year. But failing in the group stage of the CL while not scoring in the matches that counted, combined with the fact that the Premier League wasn't close to the best League in the world probably sealed the deal for Nedved, who was crucial for Juventus in the serie A title race and the best field player of that CL season. Personally, I would have given that years Ballon d'or to Buffon though

I still don't know how Shevchenko won 2004 ballon d'or. Milan was knock out in UCL top 8; UEFA Euro was handled and he sat in home watching it. The only thing he won was the league but the Seria A best player was Kaka, his teammate.

VVD was close to winning it but Messi was a little bit better in statistics,individual performance (56 goals,22 assists,Golden Shoe, Pichichi ,La liga Best Player, UCL top scorer ,UEFA Best Forward etc. Lewa in 2021 scored lots of goals in Bundesliga , was injured in UCL and could not qualify Poland from groupstages of EURO. Messi won Copa America as best player/top scorer and won Copa Del Rey with Barca. Halaand won treble , had incredible number of goals but was carried all the way in UCL. Messi won WC while being Best Player and carrying Argentina , also won two trophies with PSG.

P.S If you wanna talk about Ballon d'Or given unfairly then u should mention the most unfaired one ( the 2013 Ballon d'Or ). Ribbery was a treble winner , Bundesliga Best Player , UEFA Best Player but somehow Ronaldo won it while being trophyless , he wasn't even La liga's best player in that year.
