@@robertbrawley5048 you might also find it beneficial to think in terms of "intervals" too. This is an alternative to thinking in terms of "shapes" or even "note names". I have several lessons about this, including my most recent one: www.zombieguitar.com/a-new-way-to-look-at-the-pentatonic-scale-intervals-instead-of-patterns/

The first "light bulb" moment occurred a few moments into the video, then another, then another ..... by the end of the tutorial, my computer was lit up like a Christmas tree. All Brian's lessons are superb, but this one was absolutely awesome ..... we Zombies are so lucky, we've definitely the best guitar teacher, regarding both practical and theory ability, on You Tube!!!

The single best CAGED lesson ever. New to the channel and in the 5 videos I have watched, Brian has taught me; music theory, CAGED, how to play the piano, subdivisions, and how to create a track from scratch in a DAW. This guy deserves 10MM+ subs easily. His ability to communicate effectively makes him a tremendous teacher. Understanding the guitar has never been easier for me now.

You, you my man, are FREAKIN awesome! I've seen a lot of well done 'CAGED" videos from others, but you just hit a grand slam with this one. This is the most complete, informative and easy to understand 'CAGED' lesson from start to finish I've seen to date. Maybe it's simply that I assimilate well with your teaching style. Nearly all of your lessons, after I've seen them a few times to let them fully digest, really seem to sink in and give me a lot of those "Aha, I get it" moments. Bravo my man, bravo!

Brian this is the best description of CAGED anywhere on KZread. I finally understood what it was all about a year ago or so, but it took me watching like 10 shorter videos, and reading websites on the subject to put it all together after the confusion. If someone has the attention span to watch this whole video you put together, they'll get it for sure. I'm going to recommend your video anytime I hear someone confused about CAGED. Your teaching style is great man, I wish I could find a local teacher like you. I'd gladly pay for weekly lessons.

so, first. i am 50. i played guitar in my teens (the 80's) , and really did not do anything but just learn a few things, songs, scales, chords etc. and odd things here and there. I took some lessons for a few months back then and then I picked up a guitar again about 3 or 4 months ago. I have been watching a ton of videos to learn again and I have watched a few videos of CAGED theory videos but this, this is insightful. I get it, I do not think I did before, but now I do. really helpful, i just wanted to say, thank you.
