I don't know if anybody will agree with me, but The Secret Life of Walter Mitty has some of the most beautiful scenes in cinema history. Some of the scenes are just gorgeous in this film. Especially the scene where he's playing soccer with those kids

100% agree. All of the shots bear the same spirit. I love the scene where he just skates down a mountain, or the moment where shawn is on the roof of the plane with the volcano eruption. But my favorite part is probably the beginning credits which are just the quintessence of shots i enjoy in movies.

I love the variety. Old, new. Black and white and colour. Fantasy and realist. Animation and live action. There is perfect art in all of these different forms. Something that a lot of people seem to forget when it comes to music or art or acting or whatever. There is such a breadth and depth to these art forms, that there is beauty in all of them.

I'm kinda late but I suggest "Moonrise Kingdom"! The way it was shot is absolutely beautiful, and the colors really pop. (If it was already done, sorry) Also, since anime is included in this, scenes from "5 cm per second' and "Your Name (Kimi no Na wa) both have great scenes that are well-animated, as well as beautiful landscapes and architecture. I really hope that you are able to make a 3rd version of this, because I know that there are many more shots that can fit into this category.

This collection shows that there can be beauty in more than just the good. The scenes depicting harsh violence and realities of war can sometime be just as starkly breathtaking. Something in common with both samurai and cowboys, showing how the last moments of life can be the most appreciated, when viewed in the right mindset.

Okay so I see what you're going for, but I feel like its a major discredit to practically all of these films. Perhaps, even unintentionally, insulting. Shots like (the patricians choice, I know) the opening scene to Raging Bull isn't fantastic because of a 3-second blip--its fantastic because of its full 3 minute duration. I fully understand that you are just doing a "collage" or "montage" or maybe even "homage" to these shots, and thats great, but I think to properly give these masterpiece scenes the credit they deserve, you need to give them just that--a scene. The full 3 minutes.

i agree, this entire video shows an imature understanding of art as a spectacle to be marveled at rather than you know, art. Just like how he throws in some japanese films from the only 2 japanese directors who exist, miyazaki and kurosawa. they're not there for any reason other than 'it's a foreign black and white film' and 'its animated'.
