@@ellvis6897and @Joe B, Hey guys take it easy on Matt and Molly. They're travel vloggers. They like to travel and share their experiences with their subscribers. I've been following them for a while and they have a lot of followers because they're really nice people. I know bec I communicate with them. The war in Ukraine has saddened us all and lots of us are doing what we can to support Ukraine. It's a heavy feeling to be carrying around all day. If Matt and Molly's vlogs help relieve the stress a little bit and show us the beauty of Europe, it can't be a bad thing. We're all different and KZread has all kinds of videos to suit your mood. @@raymonortiz3084 putin is spreading hate? The war is 8 years long already in Eastern Ukraine with ukraine bombing ethnic Russians but you wouldn't know that because you just read the news. I Wouldn't call 2 superficial people visiting tourist places with no local interaction travel bloggers... There's nothing original here it's copy and paste from every other 'travel couple' Infact it's worse than most, il stick to watching people actually travel without caring what people think of them 24/7, and people who make an effort to explore proper cultures away from city centers

In my life I have seen hundreds of beautiful cities in the world, but Gdansk will always be the most beautiful for me. Everything is here and Tricity (Gdansk - Sopot - Gdynia) enriches life even more. It is a real "WINDOW ON THE SEA". Here live "Wolves of the Sea" ("Wilki Morskie"), tough and real people of the sea.
You must visit Toruń

Piekne miasto. Poznan, Wroclaw, Warszawa, Gdansk, Krakow, Olsztyn, Torun sa tez swietne. No i oczywiscie jest sporo mniejszych miast jak Sandomierz ktore uwielbiam. Pozdrawiam!
Ok so fun fact, the reason most old towns are squares (like in Warsaw, Krakow, Poznan etc.) is that the cities were "settled with German law" - basically land owners used Magdeburg rights which were a set of medieval laws which regulated how cities worked. All the cities that were granted these laws were built very similarly to Magdeburg (so a square with the city hall in the middle). Gdańsk on the other hand was settled with Lubeck law, which was the other popular medieval municipal law - Lubeck has a one long street as it's old town and so do the other cities based on it. That's kind of an easy way to know which city was settled with which law.
So glad You got to Gdansk x
You motivated me to go to the oldtown today, so there is a chance to meet you :D But honestly, thank you for reminding me how beautiful my city is. I should go outside more :D

Great video of my Alma Mater city of Gdansk ! Gdansk definitely flourished over last 20 years, many buildings were renovated and some new development makes it look way more flattering. Interesting fact, that not many ppl are aware of is that the part of Gdansk with Dlugi Targ is called Glowne Miasto ( Main City/Town) while actual Old Town is historically located east of it, closer to the main train station.

Gdańsk, Toruń, Riga, Kopenhagen, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Hamburg - all of these cities used to belong to the medieval trading company called 'Hansa'. For sure you'll find a lot similarities of these cities. Houses are thin because taxes had been counted based on width of a building's front - the wider front the more notable your house and shop was, you could sell more goods.

I think 4: 1-2 for Gdansk itself (Main and Old Towns, Solidarity Centre Museum), one for Malbork Castle (it’s mind blowing) and one for short ride with the metropolitan train to see Gdynia (modernist “ideal” city”) and Sopot (restore town with the largest wooden pier in Europe).

The architecture of Gdansk is linked to the Hanseatic league. Its similar to that of Antwerp, Bergen, Netherlands etc..
Hello! I will come to Gdansk and i need advice for the best hotel to stay. And best places to visit!? Thanks
I hope you guys saw in the photos what Gdańsk looked like right after the war. This makes the city's present landscape even more impressive. *Fun fact:* In the Przymorze district, there is the longest residential building in Poland (and the second longest in Europe) - 850 meters long, with approximately 3,500 inhabitants. Popularly known as "Falowiec" - it's actually the name of the type of building. Built in the Soviet era. Not the prettiest one (quite the opposite), but it's definitely interesting. PS You're such a lovely couple! I hope you will come back to Poland and Gdańsk soon!

Fun fact. Before ww2 Gdańsk was called Danzig, under the Versailles treaty it was a free independent city state, like today Singapore. It wasn’t part of Germany. When Hitler invaded France the code name all the German troops were waiting for to start the invasion of France was “Danzig”

I think that Gdańsk is cooler than Kraków, but the gastronomy in Gdańsk is probably worse than in Kraków - it is from my experience. From Gdańsk it is close to Sopot and Gdynia and to the Hel peninsula. It's a pity you didn't visit this place in summer - in summer this region is really cool. And how do you like Poland and Polish food in general? Hope you can make a summary.
