Don IS the real deal*
The fucking fact that you have THE DON HAASE is amazing. The man has flown over 300 real life combat missions in under 2 of the 3 years he was enlisted. (December 1967-June 1969). The amount of respect that man has earned is impossible to describe with words. An old family friend that that we all simply knew as "snake chaser" had served in a SOG team and relied on him during the war. (He gave us his actual name but I've forgotten it over the years since my early childhood, some of the shit I've heard him describe would have broken anyone with morals or any humanity and i actually ended up with nightmares from more than one of his stories.)
@TheVerendus

Seriously, this video would be amazing if it was just Don recounting his missions. The fact that he's playing a simulator of the missions he ran decades ago is just extra icing.

Great great idea. A series that honestly could be something important for history too. These vets are way more comfortable in this situation than some studio and an interviewer . This is them in their element again and the way the stories come out is , how can I put it?? More organic and natural? Like they're in a bar with the boys again. Know what I mean? What better way for the future kids and adults to hear about these men and women from all eras. I mean videos like these or watching flight sims with the real deal, actual combat pilots! Male and female, flying around and talking about their experiences or funny stories normally lost to history because they're kept among friends. The kinds of stories no interviewer would ask about. That needs to be kept for posterity. I think it's GOLD DUST! I for one think your onto something here. AND let's face it although the Vets are the most important it doesn't have to be just them and drewski you could invite other youtubers or historians or whomever we think might be interesting to hear from. What an archive it could be.

So cool to watch vets playing this. My dad was in Kilo 3/7 from '69 to '70 in the Marines. Lots of stories of action in the Que Son Valley during that time. Anyway, he became a HUGE Battlefield Vietnam junkie, back in the day, after I gave him my copy of it to play. i remember acquiring a vet from the DMZ during my days on Ghost Recon 2 on the original Xbox. Jarhead1967 was one hell of an operator in a video game that unforgivingly recreated jungle warfare, he rarely got KIA'd; often using the female avi to reduce his presence. one of the best moments online was coordinating my team to play diversion on the highground while I maneuvered low to inflict heavy losses on his team, including him. a very proud moment for me (i fuckin exchanged fire with his scary veteran ass), and some unexpected acquaintances playing that crazy ass game.
"We figured it was an escort" -Truck crew "We almost escorted your tires out" -Don Lmaooooo so good, dude's hilarious
Been watching this channel for a bit and hearing an old vet playing these games... man it just puts a smile on my face to know he's having a fun time.
The Bushranger callsign was first used by 9 squadron RAAF and used to distinguish the gunship Uh1 from the slick.
Don makes the video truly special, and then I just love hearing a British accent yelling obscenities over the radio.

Wow, in Australia, our UH-1 Iroquois "Bushranger" gunships had their final flyover of Brisbane City/CBD area about a decade or so ago..... Top job Operator Drewski.....
It's like when you're 13 and you're going with your parents/bro to visit your great grandma in the hospice for xmas....and then there's this war vet that's just spouting stories left and right in the most pleasant and captivating way........ ......but now you're actually there with him and he's just smiling/commentating along like it's a trip to the friggin zoo 🤣🤣🤣 Love the channel, love the videos, but most importantly... I love Don😭❤
