It's funny that Jonathan calls out the Mateba as "the anime equivalent of the Bladerunner blaster" but doesn't mention the Jericho 941's own legacy in anime - the one he handles IRL is very nearly identical (steel frame, slide safety), to Spike Spiegel's, of Cowboy Bebop.

about C96 animations. for quite some time it was believed that it was impossible to have attachment-based animations due to the engine. as a leftover of the devs' attempts to make guns switch animations based on attachments, we have vertical grips as attachment options being completely unused, with the models being occasionally used on some weapons as pre-installed attachments instead. i think modding community has figured out how to do it though. this probably also applies to MP5 Kurz barrel not having a proper handguard as well. AKM indeed got a reduced rate of fire of 561 RPM according to stats. its stock is also not there by default. by default both normal and golden AKM got an underfolding stock, with this fixed stock being part of some DLC. it is available on all AKs and it doesnt differ based on the weapon, so yes, it is going to be an AK-74 stock regardless of whether it is a AK-74, AKM, Saiga-ish shotgun or 7.62 Krinkov.
@nerezza5943
2 жыл бұрын
It seems he's estimating the fire rate based off the audio, but the game notoriously doesn't even try to sync the audio fire rate with the actual fire rate. If you fire only 1 round on full auto mode the game still tends to make it sound like you fired 5. Also the modding community works with game scripts while the developers usually work with the game's binaries. Game scripts are intentionally designed to slow or stop execution before the binary code does if performance issues happen so that the basic gameplay features (like reloading your gun) will always work. Tying gun features to the script system increases the chance of your gun failing to work during gameplay significantly which is why the developers are limited to only what the game engine binary code is capable of. This is also why the Fallout 4 modding community's achievements in reverse engineering that game and injecting binary code into it is such an achievement.

The normal wooden AKM furniture is in the game and is very good in terms of stats. Yes, it's part of a piece of DLC. But you don't just _get_ it from buying the DLC. Actually unlocking it is an ENORMOUS ordeal. One of them requires taking on the painting heist with all four people wearing full heavy armor, and completing it _in stealth_ within a strict time limit. That's _just_ for the buttstock. I never did it, and believe me, I tried. With normal attachments, you can get the AK down to minimal recoil. With the wooden furniture, it's nonexistent. Combined with the sheer firepower of the 7.62x39, and a quite reasonable ammo pool of four mags, it is a _serious_ piece of kit. As for it being available for _all_ AK variants, that was not the case the last time I played it. Full classic wooden furniture was only available on the AKM. Also, it's called duct tape, you soggy dog biscuits, and personally never had significant stability issues. In fact, it was stable enough for outright hackers to affect all four players against their will, teleporting you around the map and instakilling you at will, without crashing the game.
Pretty tame payday 2 weapon customization so far. There's a lot more cursed builds than this. But I suppose that spares Jonathan a bit from the usual gun enthusiasts pain.

One little detail, in Payday 2 the Taser enemies do actually incapacitate you if they zap you for long enough, which you'd need an ally to get you back up after, but it's plenty of time for an ally to take out the taser cause gameplay. So it does sort of have that detail.

I'd love to see Wolfenstein: The New Order's guns get tackled by Jonathan. Alt-History WW2 guns that then get souped up in the post-war era would make an interesting discussion I'm sure.
The Mateba in the video isn't actually the Sei Unica, it's the 2006M, which is a traditional double-action revolver, though of course it still has the swing up cylinder and a 6 o'clock barrel. Togusa's revolver in Ghost in the Shell is a mix of the 2006M and the Sei Unica. It's less well-known than the famous Sei Unica though, so I guess even Mr. Ferguson can slip up when it comes to obscure Italian revolvers.

I’ve been tased (While being trained to use the Taser). The probes went into my lower back and while the current was going through me (5 seconds is the standard shock time) my muscles did lock up and it felt like something with claws was trying to dig into my back. I didn't measure anything, I checked Payday 2 wiki: the "AK" weapon has rate of fire 652. i absolutely love the look of an AR with an 11” barrel, beautiful
There's always been an interesting debate with how the unica 6's cylinder flicked out, but im glad it comes a full 180 degrees up like it does in the game. It adds something to styling upon cops in that game.
I could listen to Jonathan go through the tiny details on retro ARs for hours
I went and looked up a video of the MP5 SD firing, and he wasn't kidding. It's one of the only guns I've ever seen that genuinely sounds like a silenced gun out of a movie.
Do Ground Branch next :) Good weapon Modelling in that.
It would be fun to see Jonathan nit-picking on weapons from Ready or Not. There aren't many weapons but they are modeled quite nicely and try to perform as they would in the real world (I hope). Or maybe revisit ArmA 3 and space out into the modding community, the RHS mods (AFRF and US) from Red Hammer Studios and NiArms Arsenal have a huge selection of firearms.
I saw the Mateba in payday-2 when i first downloaded it and almost choked on my water cuz I was just watching a mikeburnfire video which was a compilation of Zach's gun rants from their (heavily modded) co-op playthrough of new vegas and he was talking about the unica-6 and said the name means "you are unique" and that its famous from ghost in the shell, so seeing it in this list makes me want to rewatch that video and also go play payday
With Jonathan's comment at the end about less than lethal weapons, I think it would be cool for him to look at the weapons of Death Stranding, Given most of them are non-lethal or have non-lethal options due to the extremely high risk death carries in that universe. Plus I want Johnathan to react to the idea of a Blood Rocket Launcher made to fight invisible ghosts that you can only tell are there thanks to the baby you keep in a jar.

Speaking on the subject of less than lethal weapons in video games, mayhaps we could be so lucky as to have Jonathan review SWAT 3 and 4? They had some beanbag shotgun and paintball pepper spray delivery, not to mention the lethal loadouts carried by the operators.
I am willing to put in a suggestion for Survarium, a game facing a shutdown in May. It has some interesting weapons that would be fun to see on video, like the Neostead, the Fort-17, SKS with its interesting reload and the customization of the AK rifles with being able to slap a red dot onto the handguard. Plus, it has great firing sounds as the Devs recorded real rifearms at a range.
Johnathan looks so happy in the thumbnail.
I saw a comment for Sandstorm so hoping for that or Ground Branch, would be good to see how Jonathan reviews those and I think he will get a kick out of the gunsmith

I love Jonathans shirt here and I want one. Looks like a bike with a machine gun which is hilarious on a bunch of levels for me
It's funny that the Mateba became a cyberpunk anime icon when the in-universe reason Togusa uses it is that it's both uncommon and very low-tech for the era, fitting his position as the only entirely human guy on the team.
Something cool about the ak model rifles is that all the tools to service the rifle are on itself
I love the Jericho 941. Fun fact, outside of Payday 2, the Jericho was the gun used by Spike Spiegel in Cowboy Bebop!
I love this series and can’t wait to see what games are going to be reviewed and I suggest enter the Gungeon, it’s not really a shooter in the traditional sense but it has a lot of strange guns
You should do the door kickers seires. It's a top-down realistic military shooter that has a large variety of guns available.
