    Exactly. 2 other gripes are: 1) they could have made this a dream for a custom loop with the space to mount a top 180mm rad and, 2) the PSU should be rotated to exhaust upwards to vent out hot air, otherwise it's just causing mass turbulence when the fan is running within the same compartment as the CPU.

    Blocking off unnecessary ventilation areas is a good thing in any case. If there's an open area next to a fan it's going to pull air from there, and if it's an exhaust fan next to a mesh panel, it's just going to recirculate outside air most of the time. It's actually amazing how good PC cooling is in general with how half assed the cooling solutions in anything other than ITX cases are.

    My biggest issue with these vertical ITX cases is all the manufacturers are putting I/O up or down. With a riser cable, there is no reason not to put the I/O to the back like a normal PC. Corsair got this right with the original Corsair One. Flat GPU cables ran to the back of the case putting all the I/O in the easiest to access area.

  • @alexlowe2054

    @alexlowe2054

    10 күн бұрын

    The problem is that the Corsair One had a very limited selection of GPUs. If you're building a case for compatibility with any GPU, it's impossible to create a single solution for rear facing I/O. Not only is it nearly impossible (and expensive) to support all the combinations of regular Displayport and HDMI, but some GPUs still use mini-display port, some GPUS need USB-C support for VR, and there are even 3050s with DVI ports, to support older monitors. And that's not even mentioning the problems of needing a signal repeater to support most monitor cables due to signal degradation from the cable inside the case. The alternative is to create a simple solution, like 2 Displayport plugs and 2 HDMI plugs, and then sell far fewer cases while engineering a more complicated product. Which is why the case modding community has figured out some solutions to this problem, by using after-market case extension cables and 3d printing to create rear-facing I/O. I just wish more case manufacturers would openly support this type of modding with a removable panel that enabled custom modded panels.

    2 slots only for the gpu is such a mistake made by fractal design. Esp when each generation of gpu keeps growing in size.

    idiotically so. those 3 to 4 slot coolers aren't even needed on anything but the halo 4090. All they end up doing is blocking more and more expansion slots (or all of them if you go vertical mount) while growing in weight so much they break under their own weight. It's absolutely braindead

    This - is what computer cases should look like, the future is here! My only recommendation for Fractal on the future of these awesome blend-in and Japandi styled designs is, design them with the aim of being completely silent and 100% passively cooled. Though for now, I am loving the Japandi inspired designs and these lounge blend-in inspired designs.

    I really love this design. I saw it in some Computex videos but didn't expect it to drop a review this soon. As you said, 20L is quite big for a sandwich layout, even though the footprint is not that big, but it still pretty tall. We also cannot adjust the center spine for the big GPU. So like, we have too much room on CPU (but not enough for a big GPU). I think it's good for Air-cool build. I wish it has a smaller version, 12-15L that can fit 240mm AIO cooler on the side.

    I would love to see a 180mm fan from Noctua. They skip from 140mm to 200mm. Just not many 180mm fans, and Fractal now has several cases with 1800m fans. His sweatshirt matches the case, BTW.

    It looks nice but I actually would like a larger version of this, same style but that can fit a regular ATX board and of course- 3 slot cards. I also don't like these cases that doesn't expose the back of the power supply so you can't flip the switch and turn it off, which is much better than just pulling the cord. Still, it's very nice- Fractal has been making some really interesting stuff lately. I really like that case with the Wood which you showed a few clips off in the vid- I've been considering it as my next case.

    Love this case. I've built a few PCs for the living room -- not counting HTPC -- over the years but eventually repurposed them because they looked so ridiculous. Personally, also not a fan of RGB and always turn that off regardless of its intended location. This case checks all of the boxes minus the option for having better flexibility for GPU sizes. The case would fit in nicely between a subwoofer and a set of speakers while also providing useful ports on the front.

    This looks like a nice clean option to recommend to friends looking to build an ITX system for the first time -- it seems easier to work in than a sub-10L. That said, if they only gave it 3-slots for the GPU, a new builder would've basically not have to worry about GPU compatibility while A GOOD AMOUNT of cpu coolers would still be compatible.
