Don't worry. They're not siblings. If you haven't watched the TV series adaptation of the novels, Shadowhunters, I highly reccomend it.

Hodge literally says to Valentine "don’t lie to them and tell them they’re siblings” or something like that, so as viewers, we knew that it wasn’t true, they just didn’t know
They should had been the Clary and Jace on the TV show as well!

This movie was released in 2013 (but it wasn't received well enough for a sequel). It was eventually followed up with the Shadowhunters series. I still think the casting of the two leads was much better, but the series' other characters brought the original writing to life.
