    What an ordeal and such a clear example of how the government does not look after people or have compassion. Billions of dollars for war and such few resources for people going through a hard time simply needing shelter and food. it could happen to anyone, and it does. You two are so strong and should be proud of the efforts you're making to get back on solid footing. Sending love and prayers.

    I’m also west coast and people think there’s all kinds of help for anyone that wants it. Be it housing, drug or mental health treatment. They think all homeless folks want to be out there and as you can see it’s just not true! So remember when you walk passed someone it really might not be a choice.

    Can still see the shell shock on your faces when you discuss it….such a stressful and traumatic situation. Thank God things are beginning to turn around. Praying with you daily and trusting for good things to come your way. Seems to me there is some propaganda in California about there being resources available…the implication being that people choose to be homeless. I feel it’s certainly political - gaslighting to mask the reality of the crisis. You two are awesome and I so look forward to when you can speak about these things as being in your distant past. What a freaking nightmare. Lol thank you for sharing your stories, so people know its not as easy as one thinks to get shelter or help. I always said the same thing about it not being so easy, but other's think differently. I was once that person who thought the same way, until someone close to us was in a similar situation, but that person had a daughter. Still wasnt easy to find for them to find help. I know some Churches will try to help, but same thing, they usually are full too. Thank you for sharing your guy's journey.

    It's almost like watching a mother and son. I'm going to pray for ya'll. I'm 56 and was homeless living in my truck for a couple of months. I was alone, a single woman and it was hard to find help. People are definitely not going to help a whole couple. There are no handouts, not even from the government. I was suffering with mental illness also (bipolar) but had to shake it off, get my act together, find another job and get on with the getting on. I'm back in my own apartment. What I really want to say is it seems like you'll do better alone girl. Love doesn't pay any bills. You will fare better ALONE.

  • @jesandjay

    @jesandjay

    Live in the parking lot alone? No thank you. And who "shakes off" bipolar disorder? Thats a disorder that requires a lot of lifelong treatment. Telling people to just " shake off" their health struggles is bizarre. I understand you're trying to help but you're also insulting our relationship, devaluing our health, and suggesting I live alone outside. I would literally not survive. It's been a struggle to not want to end things as it is. PS- IF ANYONE is reading this comment or any other comments discussing significant mental health struggles and you feel like you need emergent help, please text or call 988

    First off I understand you want to stay in your area. But would you be willing to come somewhere where someone has a bed you can have there are jobs here in illinois and its not as big as california . I am disabled and i get help from an agency for someone to come into my home and just do light house work. I have a van. I left my phone number on a previous video. I live in quincy illinois. I have a small apartment but the bedroom is free. It has a king size bed. I wouldnt charge rent because i know you will want to go back to California. But its a chance to get off the streets and work save your money and when your ready you can go home. And we do have a shelter right down the street from me if your worried .. im not going to lie. Im an ex felon but its been 22 yrs. I dont drink or do drugs i have two lil chichi. If you go to the salvation army there they will buy you a bus ticket and when your ready to leave here they will buy you a ticket to get home.

  • @jesandjay

    @jesandjay

    2 ай бұрын

    Hi there , there’s a big difference in what’s listed vs what’s hiring. I’ve gone directly into these jobs after they post and they tell me they are not actually hiring. Further more, some fast food in this area has shut down due to crime, and others are laying off or closing because the minimum wage rate increased. And finally, the ones I have applied to, I’ve been declined . As an addendum- a minimum wage job would not afford us housing.

    Better get a tent asap. There are sales this weekend and you can at least have temporary shelter. Take turns sleeping one is a lookout. You will get robbed if you both go to sleep. Save as much money as you can find any temp job you can find. You can eat at many programs and get walking food at the food bank. It is a struggle and it will be better to find work asap.

    Again, I think and act differently from most of the population (diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome since 12, now 33), but I still think logically. I personally wouldn't judge if you guys indulged in *things* every once in a while just to take the frickin' edge off of life!! Even thought it wouldn't improve your situation, but atleast temporary, the b.s. of it all would temporary fade away to give your psyche some type of break. But aside from that, I think at some point, I think you guys should save up whatever you can and move out of California due to the outrages rent prices. I wish I can try and offer up better options, but when i'm able to, I will send $ or something to your p.o. box.

    Me and my 3 kids had to move in our van after being evicted from our home of 16 years. We got denied any type of shelter assistance because of being evicted so we had no choice but to resort to living in our van and that was myself and three children. The Shelter system is a mess they clean they have all this money to help they claim they’re there to help but there’s all these stipulations that you have to follow in order to get help, a lot of the time you don’t even qualify for help they don’t even tell you until you’ve been denied and you’re already homeless only reason for me and my children’s denial is the fact that we owed rent and that’s why we got denied

    Another thing good luck with these case managers . They dont do nothing. And good luck with section 8 it's a 4 year waiting list. And good luck with motel vouchers cause they will tell you there out of funds. There nothing but a big run around.

    What I dont understand if there is such a wait, why dont they kick the people off the program that destroy property and move on to people who take care of their housing.

    Here on you tube? I’ve tried to find one that had yalls backstory. I was also interested in what took you from corner to this situation. It always pisses me off that they will work you to the bone in these Careers that expose you to so much trauma fuel but then offer no support after you’ve been burnout and traumatized smh. If you have a video that covers this please point me in the right direction.

    Horrendous how the human services woman treated you! There are actually some narcissistic sadists who love to abuse vulnerable and homeless people. Makes them feel all big and important. Have you thought of keeping a journal and then writing a book about your experience of being homeless? I think it could sell a lot and open peoples eyes to the realities of homelessness.

    @@jesandjay I think you should! You are very eloquent and describe your experiences really well. You have good insight and are a riveting story teller, so if you can transfer those traits to writing, it would be a very interesting and enlightening book.
