@Jason Thompson Actually I'm getting a little tired of Scorsese repeating himself. But I guess, that what fans want him to do. Everytime he did something different like Age of Innocence or Hugo, people shrugging their shoulders.

@Jason Thompson I applaud him too for stepping out of his comfort zone. I just wish he would do it more often. He is old enough, he doesn't need to please the fanbase. Regarding repetition: yes you pretty much nailed what I ment. I would also mention that I'm not the greatest fan of his constant use of voice over. It was the right choice for Goodfellas and Casino. But now it's just a gimmick.

One thing that I love about the Scarface chainsaw scene, is that you don't really see anything happening. You hear screams, and there's blood splatter, but it's your own imagination that fills in the horrible details. Great show, guys!

Well done, guys. That was awesome. I'm touched by your in-depth knowledge & appreciation of this supremely gifted and undervalued director. It made for compelling viewing. I was especially pleased to see "Carlito's Way" get some love. I was knocked out by De Palma's virtuosity in that film but the romantic sub-plot (bolstered by the often wistful voiceover) & Sean Penn's performance floored me as well. The scene where Pacino's watching Penelope Ann Miller at her dance class (holding a trashcan lid over his head to keep the rain off) and, especially, the end-sequence sound-tracked by "You are so beautiful" gets me every time. On a side note, you may be interested in checking out old clips of a show called "Strutter" from a few years back. In it the British comedian Paul Kaye played a character partly inspired by the one Penn played in this. It was a goofy and crude comedy sketch show but i thought he captured his look & mannerisms pretty well. I think i remember him saying he was going for a Dave Kleinfeld/Rodney Dangerfield combo at the time :)

Will miss him when he returns to playing live. Props to Jamie Lazlo - pun intended - for his finale selection and action with Carrie. Epic! (The stuff of which legends are made.) The ending of Carrie scared the bejesus out of me in the theatre. Literally jumped out of my seat. Other favorites were discussed and I likely would put The Untouchables in the Number 2 spot. Great casting, great story, great filming. Just wanted to thanks everyone - with a particular spotlight "Why I'm Sitting Outside" Jamie - for making this an unforgettable show.

I noticed I've only seen 9 of Brian De Palma's 30 films. So I have quite a few gaps in my knowledge - especially it seems Dressed To Kill, Body Double and Carlito's Way. But of the ones I have seen my favourites are: 1. Mission Impossible - by far the best MI film, a proper thriller not just an action film (as good as some of them are) 2. Mission To Mars - a much maligned film but I really like it, I love sci-fi and this is a good one (maybe not very Brian De Palmary though) 3. The Untouchables - just a great all round film 4. Blow Out - a really cool thriller 5. Carrie - haven't seen this in many years, from what I remember it was good, but maybe just a little bit overblown And yes I'd love to see a Scorsese episode and also a Kubrick one would be awesome.

Being that this is Sea of Tranquility, a music themed show, "Phantom of the Paradise" has to be mentioned.

Don't think he made a better film than Carrie. I also liked Obsession, Casualties of War, The Untouchables, and Body Double was flawed but entertaining.
