Terrifying Monsters from a lost age!
John Agar (Attack Of The Puppet People), Hugh Beaumont (Leave It To Beaver) and Nestor Paiva (Creature From The Black Lagoon) star as three archaeologists who come upon an unusual race of albino beings who shun all forms of light and have mutant mole men as their slaves.
Because of their "magical cylinders of fire" (what we know as flashlights), these archaeologists are treated like gods - until they try to liberate the mole people. Can the archaeologists escape this hallowed mountain in Asia ... or will they be destroyed in a strange underground world?

Oh man. I've been trying to remember the name of this movie. I saw this as a kid but didn't know what it was called.
Movies from my days.... They never get old.
I had no clue all this was happening a mere 10 meters beneath Las Vegas.
I saw this movie when I was a kid, and it scared me to death... I still haven't been able to watch it. Pretty scary stuff.

Because it's based on facts? Vril lizards and subterranean people.
Imagine how amazed people must have been when this was new by those SFX. I know it's nothing compared to what you can do with movies nowadays, or even when compared to the SFX of the late 80's and early 90's, where they, darn near perfected practical effects! Despite it being cheesy now, I still love it! Universal Studios dominated the horror/sci-fi genres in the 30's and 40's; but, by the time this came out they were doing a lot of B-Movies in that genre and, aside from the Gillman from "The Creature From the Black Lagoon", and the Metaluna Mutant from "This Island Earth", they didn't produce much that was memorable. For me, the Mole men are just as memorable as the Metaluna Mutant and the Deadly Mantis!
I had no idea Ward Cleaver was in that movie!!
Looks like an academy award winner to me.

The funniest think is this is a decent film and the mole people are not the bad guys, they are worked as slaves. The belies its ridiculous trailer.

This movie is a little btutal. As the dead body count in it is high. Has a tragic ending in it too. But the God-given beautiful women in it are a plus!
