The Mirror/Title Song/Music of the Night - Hugh Panaro and Julie Hanson
Музыка
Hugh Panaro and Julie Hanson (and Jim Weitzer for like 3 seconds) performing the mirror scene, the title song, and Music of the Night in 2003. Hugh is simply amazing, and Julie is quickly becoming a favorite Christine. Quality wise this video isn't much, but the performances are simply amazing.

Simply the best Phantom to ever grace the stage, IMO. I've spent my entire childhood and adult years adoring Michael Crawford and claiming the same about him (of course!), but there is no question-Hugh shares that pedestal with Michael. Stunning.

I love knowing others feel the same.:). I am still holding out hope that his return to the role will be announced. :) He just can't be done for good.

+keelieak I know! Again I feel the same. It is my dream to see Hugh as the phantom.

Nelle Biremandie Exactly! I feel like it's rather unlikely that he come back to the role once again, but who knows... And Hugh is such an adorable person, I love watching interviews with him :)
Hugh is stunning and his voice is so beautiful :)
Oh phantom... showing her a wedding dress in the first date!
Just saw him live, must say he's 1000x better in person. ^O^
Watching this video and an ad for The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway comes up. Perfect :D If I had money I'd be there in a heartbeat, seeing Hugh in person. But alas... it cannot be done :(
My top 4 phantoms are Michael Crawford, Mark Mckerracher, Hugh Panaro, and the legendary Peter Hoffman
Really liked this video! All the best!!
The title song is recorded because the actors have to prepare to get on the boat. I'm sure they wouldn't it if it wasn't absolutely necessary.
Oh Hugh you are too wonderful. But not a very graceful swoon of Julie's. Does anyone know... do they change that at all in the new UK version? I always thought the doubling-over mannequin and subsequent fainting could've been executed better.
You may have seen the sets from a recent touring version...the West End set is unchanged.
Is the title song recorded?;))
Hugh is pretty good. The one critique I have of the Broadway production as a whole is that they are sissies. Just catch her for goodness sake. It totally ruins it when you see him just let her fall to the floor. Yes, the actor may eventually get back issues. The West End still catches Christine and it is more beautiful. It shows his love for her. The Broadway "just let her fall" makes him look uncaring. IMO

Emily Mixay I know, right? I don’t get that or understand it either.

I actually disagree. To me the question arises: "How many interactions does he have with women?" To me, it looks more like he doesn't know what to do. His physical interactions with her thus far have been minimal and gentle (the tiniest bit intimate at the most), so not catching her makes sense. It's almost a fear of "how do I touch this being whom I worship and love so much?" Another Phantom who portrays that really well is Ivan Ozhogin from the Moscow cast. I also don't think the Phantom expected that kind of reaction. I mean, how was he supposed to know you shouldn't show her a wedding dress on a mannequin that looks just like her on the first date?

EXACTLY! I always saw that as not only something one just has to do as a gentleman, but really weird when Erik lets his true love fall to the cobblestone floor of his lair. Imagine if she straight up died.

It’s not the productions fault - Equity, for whom all actors work under (think their union), would’t allow that part in the music to occur - to prevent injuries. They also cut Raoul jumping from the bridge into the trap door at the stage level eventually, near the end. Damn EQUITY !! ! !

@@scotrule6128 When was Raoul jumping cut? I saw the show about a year ago and he still jumped
nahhhhhh, wherever did u get that idea? *sarcasm*, lol ;)
this guy has some vocal similarities to Ted Keegan. Ted is my only live experience. but something is just OFF here to me. I like how he almost seemed to kiss her. closer and longer than any other Phantom. but he's just not for me
lets hope broadway doesn't get the new set design. I've seen pics and vids of the new UK sets and they looks crappy.

zac613 it's also in the US Tour. 😅
Panaro's incredibly talented I suppose but I'm not the biggest fan of his voice. He's a bit like a mediocre John Owen Jones
