The MIRACLES - Love Machine/Do It Baby

I KNOW PETE MOORE AND BILLY GRIFFIN ARE VERY MUCH STILL ALIVE - Sorry about the earlier confusion!!! (Updated May 10 2017)
With Billy Griffin this line-up sounded great and the pink suits were so camp! Love both songs, they should have had more hits.

The Miracles already had Grammys before Billy joined . In fact the Miracles have more songs inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, then any other Motown group... Even more than the Supremes and the Temptations That is why right now in Los Angeles, The Miracles are receiving a special honor at the Grammy Museum in downtown LA. It's called "LEGENDS OF MOTOWN: HONORING THE MIRACLES". The special exhibit will continue until summer 2017. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Miracles_awards_and_achievements#Grammy_Hall_of_Fame www.grammymuseum.org/exhibits/legends-of-motown-celebrating-the-miracles

Just can't believe that all but Billy Griffin is still alive while all the others are now up there giging with their other Motown stable-mates. What a WONDERFUL era of music this was. I thank God I was born to hear and see it all originally unfold before my Motown hungry teenage years. Stoned Love, Steve.

Hey did you ever think about it they were the only ones who could have carried that color and still be real men .
Warren "Pete" Moore, an original member of the first Motown group, The Miracles, died yesterday (November 19, 2017) on his 79th birthday. Moore formed the Miracles with childhood friend Smokey Robinson. Once the group was signed by Motown as its first major act, Moore and Robinson began actively writing songs together, and they became a force, penning hits for their own group, such as “Ooh Baby Baby,” as well as for other groups like The Tempations (“Since I Lost My Baby”) and Marvin Gaye (“I’ll Be Doggone”). Once Robinson left the group, Moore soldiered on with new lead singer Billy Griffin, co-writing the #1 hit “Love Machine” and producing much of the group’s 70s hits.

Good old positive r n b music!
"Love Machine" is a 1975 single recorded by Motown group The Miracles, taken from their album City of Angels. The song was a #1 Pop smash on the Billboard Hot 100, and the biggest-selling hit single of The Miracles' career. This single was one of two Billboard Hot 100 Top 20 hits recorded by The Miracles with Billy Griffin as lead vocalist; the other is 1973's "Do It Baby". Griffin had replaced Miracles founder Smokey Robinson as lead singer in 1972. The song features a growling vocal by Miracle Bobby Rogers, with group baritone Ronnie White repeating "yeah, baby" throughout the song.
Millennial here, i found a 70s dance party in my parents cd collection and decided to give it a try. I have a whole new appreciation for 70s music, theres so much lyrical diversity and so many instruments that make amazing songs as opposed to the songs my generation adores like 'baby' or 'work work work'
When Smokey Robinson left the Miracles who ever thought that he was going to be replaced by Billy Griffin with one of the best voices that is out of this world.Recently bought Billy Griffin CD and I could listen to his voice all the times............
Funny, no one thought those hot pink outfits and Billy's exaggerated dance moves on "Love Machine" were a little flamboyant. It seems the public back then was more open minded back then...interesting! Love the vocals!!!

Warren Thomas "Pete" Moore (November 19, 1938 - November 19, 2017) was an American singer-songwriter and record producer, notable as the bass singer for Motown group the Miracles from 1955 onwards, and was one of the group's original members. He is also a 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee, and a BMI and ASCAP award-winning songwriter and was the vocal arranger on all of the group's hits.

This was/is a wonderful recording the production is lush just like watching some old school Hollywood movie from the 40's (Overture (The Miracles/City of Angels) . They captured that feel and wed it to the sounds of the late 70's perfectly. I don't think anyone did anything like this especially at Motown/Tamala anywhere really.

Replacing a dynamic lead singer like Smokey Robinson in an established group like The Miracles had to be no easy task, but Billy Griffin pulled it off admirably. I actually think this guy's voice is better than Smokey's. I can't imagine Smokey singing stuff like these two songs. On the other hand though, I can't imagine Billy Griffin doing something like "The Tracks Of My Tears." So I guess it all evens out.
