The bass used was definitely a Yamaha DX-7 synthesizer, and layered with a bass guitar in some spots. Pretty much the same sound as A-ha's "Take On Me" as well.

Kool and the gang should be up there as one of the greatest bands ever. They churned out so many great songs, many of which didn't get the airplay they deserved. They are definitely one of my favourite bands ever.

To me the sixties, and then the seventies greatly as far as Soul music funk music was the epitome. In the 80s we had good music but it was starting to get cheesy and turn into electronica too much Electronics abuse. The 90s so so it was some good stuff but I miss real musicianship.

Having listened to hundreds, if not thousands, of songs, Fresh is absolutely one of the best. Come to think of it, Kool & the Gang had many great songs in the 70s and 80s. Now at age 60 I am appreciating their music more than ever.
