THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE All Clips & Trailer (2024) Henry Cavill [4K UHD]

Фильм және анимация

Based upon recently declassified files of the British War Department and inspired by true events, THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE is an action-comedy that tells the story of the first-ever special forces organization formed during WWII by UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials including author Ian Fleming. The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly “ungentlemanly” fighting techniques. Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare.

@@J_Sergio My grandfather wore suits with vests, cotton high collar shirt, and leather shoes. The suits were essentially bespoke - he was the superintendent of the Rosamund's Woolen Mill in Almonte Ontario. In 1919, they beat the world with some of their textiles (the Paris show). His ties were Italian silk (and about a handwidth wide as was the style then). The trousers were high and suspenders and a belt were usually worn. His trouser leg seams could have sliced a rug they were so sharp, his shirt collars could have stood up on their own. He often had a nice fedora or the like - one of his cousins ran a milners (a store specializing in hats) and brought product up from Toronto. I don't know if it was really comfortable, but he looked great. I sometimes wonder how much of the drive to look squared away and well dressed came from the opposite beforehand; He'd come up from a family of Scots coal miners (born 1898) and he had to quite school after grade 8 - he was the eldest of 7 and the family needed him to work. He did horse driven deliveries of milk and he worked in a bakery. In early 1915, he lied about his age to join the British Army (ended up in the 16th Highland Light Infantry). He went over in late 1916 (someone ratted him out for being too young and they kept him in England for a bit of extra time - he was also phenomenal with horses). He could have stayed in England and he would have made Sergeant or higher, but he felt he should go with his unit to Europe. He fought through France, Belgium and the other Low Countries, was in the pursuit to the Rhine, and stayed for the Occupation (all of his money went home to the family and he was the one who managed the rum rations - so he daren't drink!). He got home early 1920 - no parties, no jobs. Not even a formal discharged. He did scrappy jobs, saved, and put himself through Textile School and he took a job in Almonte Ontario and left Scotland and went to Canada in 1927. That time in the trenches saw mud, mud, blown up friends, gunned down friends, bayoneted friends, grenaded friends, rats, plagues and infections. When they went through smashed cities chasing the Huns, some of his unit would look for jewellers or the like. He and the smarter ones went looking for a mill that ground wheat, oats, barley or the like. He used to say that if the chow wagon couldn't get to you, you had something to eat - you couldn't eat a watch. Of the 32 or so people in his neighborhood, he knew of about 3 who made it home in reasonable shape. That time in the mud and horrors might have made him more determined to not see himself in such circumstances and the well made clothes was part of that. I miss him. I'm no replacement, to be sure.

Somehow it reminds me a little of the Three Stooges, but with less violence. If you aren't familiar with the famous Three Stooges I recommend their brilliant comedy, of the slightly more then 200 shorts many are available. Their work had a hidden depth for eyes that look through the surface of their slapstick knuckle head routines to a commentary on society and relationships lampooning male female stereotypes. Admittedly lowbrow, but....

You do realize the character is there for a reason? Have you actually read the declassified files? I have. It wasn't just men. Hence *ungentlemanly* warfare. The whole idea of this was black ops. Guerilla. Foes you didn't expect to be foes. You didn't expect to fight back. You didn't expect necessarily to be armed and capable. It wasn't fighting fair. Like she isn't there for no reason. Yes he's made the story a bit more flashy and exploding for the camera, and a bit of biting comedy which there would have been less of, or far more gallows humor given the stakes and the situation. However the story itself is not fantastical nor 'inserting women for no reason making men a joke'. All parties represented are more or less there for a fucking reason and are representative of someone IN THOSE DECLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS Crack a book, numbskull.
