The Milk Conundrum | What you need to know about Portugese Milk
Only being able to source UHT milk here in Portugal we decided to do some taste testing of suppliers we can currently source. We touch on the difficulties facing farmers in current times. We are making moves to support local farmers and ourselves in the years moving forward. We hope to eventually provide most of our fresh food needs and use other local, fresh and organic suppliers to source most of our other needs.

This was great! I often get chided by friends and family when I say, "If I were stuck on a deserted island and could only have one thing drink it would be milk." While they all laugh and suggest beer, wine or rum would be a better choice, I'd still miss milk the most. I've never thought to do a milk taste though. This is NEXT LEVEL! Cheers!!

Thanks Luis. Ideally it is cows milk that we are looking for but maybe I will try it. It a shame no one really produces milk here. Surely we would be able to find someone. We plan to have our own milk cow eventually anyway so its all good. Hope you are well.

@@ScottAndJen they have a facebook page and website. This organisation is trying to preserve serra da estrela sheep breed, but i don't know if they continue to sell the milk to the final consumer. I guess you are on Guarda, if so try to look for jarmelista breed, it's a dual purpose cow for meat and milk. (sorry for my english)😅

@@luisduarte4490 excellent info and much appreciated. I was wondering what cow breeds were here and the local breeds look about the right size for what we'll be wanting. Looked at the holstein breeds but they are huge beasts and take some feeding. Also they produce way more milk than a family would need. Hope you are well, thanks again.
