I've been having success using the Midderlands as the setting and using the classes from the 5e Adventures in Middle Earth player's guide.
Im running this with Warhammer 1st edition. It fits very well.

@@Thegaminggang Obviously it takes a bit of work converting the Bestiary across, but thats also fun, unless like me you do it while running the campaign ... :D
You're right about B/X race-as-class being a thing, but Swords and Wizadry is based on OD&D. So race and class are separate just as they are in AD&D.

Thanks Shaun! There are so many OSR core rules out there sometimes I mix them up; especially S&W and Labyrinth Lord. ~ Jeff
Red Dice Diaries here on KZread has ran a couple of campaigns. You can watch the tubes.
This converts very well to BX Advanced which you might like. Great mix of BX and AD&D1e.
Get Dolmenwood to use as Ireland.

I love the detail of the setting but I hate the monsters. Is it medieval fantasy or is it science fiction with aliens.

Hahahaha! Good point! I think the monsters ARE probably my least favorite parts of the books. They aren't bad but, you're right, they do have an SF vibe. ~ Jeff

The Gaming Gang I love, love the detail though. I’m thinking of a way to transplant Great Lunden into Dark Albion and change the monsters.
